What is the truth of generational curses?

http://www.ukapologetics.net/08/generationalcurses.htm

Scripture does teach that the sins of the fathers are heaped to the 3rd or 4th generations. They are "curses" of sorts if those generations cannot disband or dismantle the "curse". Why does illegitimacy abound in some families? Divorce? Homosexuality? Drug abuse?

I would like to purpose another thought here: What happens if these generational curses actually exist, as I have thought they do, within the biology, like the article posted above? Epigenetics teaches it isn't a true "heredity", but a familial or enviromental heredity, meaning the behavior or traits learned from the family elders + the "traits" or habits of the family elders of how to handle their emotional issues again handed down through the generations.

Why do we eventually become our mothers and fathers? We don't want to do that, but that is the way we have learned to handle our emotional and psychological issues. Can we change? Absolutely! Part of that change comes through a new life in Jesus Christ. He calls us to have a renewed mind.

Why then do born again Christians still carry around all this crap and junk? My personal opinion is it is repercussions of the family sin. When we confess our sin to God, does He automatically remove the consequences of our sin? Nope! We screw up, we must face the consequences. Isn't that what we teach our kids? And that is why we try to protect our kids from behaviors that can have life long consequences.

Many times God intervenes supernaturally, removing the consequences for His divine purposes. Most times He uses natural means to heal us, or give us coping mechanisms to deal with whatever we now reap from our sinful nature. This is a complicated subject, but one we Christians within the Energy Psychology arena need to explore and deal with because God has handed us, and again I know EFT and Matrix Reimprinting, a tool or mechanism with which to deal with these generational sin issues. And most of our emotions and bad habits are just that, if we are honest and look sincerely at them.

Few churches discuss "sin" anymore. We make mistakes. No, we sin! My Christian EFT technique is based on confession and repentance of sinful emotions. Someone within a family needs to step up, taking responsibility for the family "sin" and stop handing it down through subsequent generations.
