Tapping and More Epigenetics!

To me, this Epigenetic article illustrates the VERY BEST REASON we, especially us women, should be tapping! Women do the bulk of the care-giving.

If epigenetics is true, and I suspect it is, we MUST clear our emotional junk rather than send it further down our generational lines to our grandchildren, great-grandchildren, etc.

In Christianity, we tout our charitable endeavors! What better charity could we do for mankind overall, and our families in particular, than use tapping to let our emotional trauma go, allowing forgiveness to enter, and clear our DNA of those genetic tags where the trauma has attached itself.

Even if you are past the childbearing age, tapping will still help clear your on-going genetic lines!

What a gift you have to give to your family! A wonderful life-giving on-going gift. Give children 2 things in life and nothing can stop them! What are those 2 things? JESUS & EFT!!!

Remember, EFT is NOT a substitute for medical care, so please contact your own personal physician if you have emotional or physical issues before starting EFT.

52 Tapping Devotions #8 - 1 Corinthians 10:13

Devotion # 8 in EFT for Christians 52 Tapping Devotions I used 1 Corinthians 10:13 as the text.

As a R.N. I don't claim to be a Scripture expert!

But it was gratifying to see the translator of The Passion Translation to write out this verse as I "interpreted" it!

Here is TPT version of 1 Corinthians 1:13, "We all experience times of testing, which is normal for every human being. But God will be faithful to you. He will screen and filter the severity, nature, and timing of every test or trial you face so that you can bear it. And each test is an opportunity to trust him more, for along with every trial God has provided for you a way of escape that will bring you out of it victoriously."
Exactly!!! God has our lives completely under control even if we feel anything but overwhelm! He allows us these emotions and events and memories so we turn to Him for help.

In this day and age, EFT might be that help. EFT actually works, if it is used often and properly. Anecdotal stories abound of its efficacy! 100+ research studies prove that it works.
And our Lord promises He has already created a way out of our life's troubles.

If you are still CONSIDERING tapping, maybe time has arrived for you to commit to actually doing the process.

The 52 Tapping Devotion book, as well as the other books in the EFT for Christians series, can be found here: EFT for Christians Book Store

We are here to help in whatever way we can!

Blessings and know you are prayed for!

EFT is not a substitute for sound medical or psychological care, so please take care of yourself and call a physician when help is needed.

EFT and Shame

Little is discussed in the EFT world about the emotion of shame. Guilt and feeling ashamed do present themselves on occasion while tapping, with guilt being the most predominate one of the three, but rarely does shame turn up.

Let’s establish a definition of each one.

Guilt tends to be our inner conscience telling us we did something wrong, a behavior that was immoral, a mistake or a perception of a bad behavior, leading us to a remorseful feeling, and eventually bringing us to conviction by the Holy Spirit to repent of our sin (Cor. 7:10).

Ashamed is a feeling of embarrassment or regret about something we ourselves did, an action we took against another, which led to exposure of us, or of our motives.

Shame, however, I believe, is the strongest and the most destructive of all three emotions.

Shamefulness focuses on oneself. It is attached to personal distress, giving the person a dark, foreboding sense that there is something seriously wrong with them. It is horribly negative and highly charged. Failure, hurt, and helplessness are intertwined under the umbrella of shame. Because of the helpless factor, shame can be a major cause of childhood trauma, leading to PTSD.

Shame focuses on who one is. Often mothers tell their children, “Shame on you,” when a child exhibits a behavior the mother dislikes.  Most times it is not the child the parent detests, but the behavior; however, stating it as a personal affront, the child can perceive it as there is something embarrassing or humiliating about them. The child can see himself as disgraceful, a failure, a bad person, as unimportant, or even unlovable. The tone of the parent’s voice, or their actions, such as wagging a finger at the child, burns those words ever more deeply in the subconscious of the child’s mind.  No doubt the child deeply feels within their physiology all of that sensory information around that statement.

Shame becomes internalized contributing to who we really think we are, leading eventually to feelings of disconnection from everyone because we see ourselves in a negative light.

If a child feels shame from a parent who rears them, perceiving that he is not lovable, there is no way the child can feel attached to that parent. If the child feels defective, no one could possibly love them, including the parent. This perception carries over into adulthood in most cases.

Shame underlies many of our negative adult behaviors including infidelity (we keep looking for someone to love us), depression (there is no hope of ever being loved because I am a mistake and I belong to no one anywhere), substance abuse (anything to drown out the voices that keep telling us that there is nothing good about me), or pornography (using someone else to make me feel better).

There is absolutely nothing helpful about shame. It simply destroys the individual emotionally, and eventually kills the spirit to live, occasionally leading to suicide.

Shame drives us away from community. We can never allow any vulnerability at all. If another human being found out what I really am all about, rejection is sure to come, causing more shame. Fear of being judged or condemned by others keeps one from ever opening up about their true self.

There is not enough hope in the universe to ever help one who is overcome with shame believe anything in life will ever change. Few people will chance telling another what they feel for fear of further rejection, compounding the pain. The biggest fear of the shamed one is someone else finding out how badly they actually feel inside.

Shame is a universal feeling of self-hate, inferiority, fear of exposure, and humiliation packed into a vessel of complete separation from mankind, and from God Himself. It is packed together with the sense of loss of reputation, disgrace, dishonor, loss of belonging, along with the loss of integrity and virtue.

Underneath shame are core beliefs such as: “I’m a phony, I’m a bad person, I don’t deserve anything in life, it’s all my own fault, I’m a mistake, I’m damaged, I’m flawed, I am wrong, I am worthless, I’m inadequate, I’m dirty, I am unworthy, I hate myself, I’m an idiot, I’m stupid”, etc.

Shame shows up as anxiety, anger, depression, exaggerated pride, total helplessness, externalized blame, prejudice, envy, boasting, bullying, hate, judgmental attitudes, bigotry, righteousness, revenge and grudges, physical complaints, all types of antisocial behavior including gang membership and sexual performance clubs with anger tending to be the underlying emotion that triggers the others.

Shameful feelings are always seeking validation where one will constantly apologize for their behavior, or they will never apologize for anything for fear someone will once again shame them. An abusive relationship is better than no relationship. Those who carry shame gravitate to other needy people because they feel no “healthy” person would tolerate them. Shamed people will go to great lengths to garner approval, such as work extra-long hours or do the jobs no one else wants to do, or do anything to not receive criticism, as that indicates withdrawal of approval. Over-sensitization and fear dominate the life of a shamed person. It may well be the root cause of those who label themselves “hypersensitive” because they feel vulnerable about everything in life.

Shame often is intergenerational. If a parent has a core emotion of shame, walking through life in a joyless manner and isolated from others, the offspring learn the same behaviors and feelings, personalizing them from the parent who has little encouragement or love to offer because they themselves never had any to give.

Physical symptoms include chest heaviness, slumped shoulders where a person is attempting to minimized themselves so no one can criticize them, no eye contact, halting or hesitant speech, completely giving up making any decisions for themselves, allowing others to care for them because they cannot trust their own decision making, low energy, nausea, flushing or embarrassment when anyone speaks or looks their way, and isolation from others physically and emotionally.

Psychologists believe shame tends to begin early in childhood, most likely infancy, when the mother-child attachment bond is disrupted, and the baby perceives an emotion of not being wanted or loved by the parent.

Although shame tends primarily to come from the outside from an authority figure who has criticized or withheld love and attention, it can also be caused by one’s own actions, and the feelings that follow the mistake one made. It can be all mixed together with feeling of being ashamed for a sin or an unintended mistake. One goes from feeling ashamed of their behavior to shame inside for making the mistake or doing the deed in the first place, i.e. “I should have known better or I should have acted better.”

As a Christian, we have a Savior who has taken on Himself all our shame as He died on the Cross at Calvary. Jesus Himself experienced extreme shame, as He was hung as a result of our actions and sins while completely exposed and naked. Jesus was guiltless but He took on all the shame of mankind at His death, and defeated it all!

Romans 8:1-2 reads, “There is therefore now no condemnation for those who are in Christ Jesus. For the law of the Spirit of life has set you free in Christ Jesus from the law of sin and death.”

EFT is a wonderful God-given tool to deal with shame. Shame is a core emotion that can destroy us physically and emotionally if not dealt with adequately. It is like acid that continues to eat us up inside day after day.

Several points need to be made about using EFT on the emotion of shame.

Confess any part or piece of any incidents that involve shame to God, asking for forgiveness and repenting of any wrongdoing. This may include behaviors that were acted upon because of the feelings of shame. They all must be confessed to repair the vertical relationship with God.

When we hurt, we find something outside ourselves to salve that pain. The behaviors we use to cover up the pain often times are wrong and sinful.

Pray and ask the Holy Spirit to bring to mind any memories or behaviors that need to confessed and healed, and then tap on those after confessing them.

The memories around the shame and the subsequent behavior will most likely not go away, but with the tapping the emotions around the memories will be cleansed; however, first the memories must be confessed if they were hurtful to God or another person. The tapping will relieve the repetitious wave of shame that comes from the memory.

Sometimes, and this is not mandatory, it is helpful to find some Scripture passages that reveal God’s truth about whatever the shame based memories were. Perhaps write those down and repeat them until they are memorized. Fill in that mindful space where satan’s lies were removed with the Word of God.

You may feel led by the Holy Spirit to make restitution to a person whom you have hurt with the sinful behavior. If God tells you to apologize, then do so. If it is a monetary mistake you made, you may want to consider following the Scriptural mandate of double restitution.

Be vigilant and mindful watching carefully for any further condemnation satan my try to bring upon you based on past thoughts and behaviors. If any of those thoughts bring with them a physiological response, take the time to tap on them, too. They probably are remaining aspects of the shame based behavior. The more aspects you tap and remove, the less power satan has to condemn you based on past behaviors.

God is faithful and just to forgive our sins.  “If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness” (I John 1:9).

Apparently, with many people laden with shame (and guilt), we Christians need to make it easier and safer for others to be transparent, allowing for honest conversation about our hurts and pains. Taking the time to listen to others explain in detail what they feel and what happened in the past that got them to this point, gives the hurting person the validation they so desperately seek.

Christian EFT practitioners are in the perfect God-given position to do just this. Listening to a client in a non-judgmental manner tell their lifelong story of pain and hurt allows for this deep, honest conversation. It is this conversation coupled with the physiological tapping and confession, if needed,  that will lead to a full healing of the emotion of shame, opening up an entirely new world of relationships for that client.

Remember to take personal responsibility for your own emotional and physical health. If your shame based emotions are deep and you feel difficult to work with, please hire a certified Christian EFT practitioner to help you.

EFT & Your Tongue

I want to teach you a simple "trick" for the times when you cannot tap, but you need to tap now!

I learned this years ago from Dawson. I use it when I'm in a hurry, and bothered, but when I can't stop and tap right now.

Drop your tongue, relaxed, on the floor of your mouth. Cross your hands over your heart, and take a few slow deep breaths. 5 seconds in, hold for 2 seconds, 5 seconds out. Do this while feeling where your angst is physically and focus on whatever the problem is.

A nice long red light is ample time to just allow whatever the feelings and emotions are to float off.

Now, teach yourself, and it takes a bit of mindfulness to do this - keep your tongue relaxed as much as possible on the floor of your mouth.

That relaxed tongue engages the parasympathetic nervous system and tells your body that there is nothing wrong no matter what you are feeling at the moment. You might be bugged, but you are NOT in any physical danger.

If anyone tries this, let me know what you think of this short-cut. It doesn't replace your daily tapping, but it can help to get you out of an immediate problem with a quick fix.

Remember, EFT is NOT a substitute for your own personal medical or mental health care professional. See them regularly whenever you feel you must do so!

How Much Healing Guts Do You Have?

When I go into a group of hurting women like those in some support group where their spouses have died, or the spouse has abandoned them for another woman, I hear that same mantra repeatedly, “I want God to heal me through and through. I’m so done with feeling hurt.”

As the group moderator continues to lead them week after week through EFT clearing, it is interesting to watch the varied reactions. Some women open up quickly, easily, baring their souls to one another; others are more reticent, holding back, waiting for the just the right time to let loose of their own personal story.

All of that is good. People heal at a different pace, and even if a woman isn’t saying a word, but continues to tap with her fellow group members, there is a good chance God is healing her, too, in a more subtle way. That way is called “Borrowed Benefits.”

Decades ago, EFT founder Gary Craig, realized something “energetic” was happening underneath the surface of the group to whom he was speaking when he had a client up on stage, tapping with her/him.

Finally, Mr. Craig decided to run a small experiment of sorts. I won’t get this story’s details exactly right, and there are many variations of it out on the internet, but he had the entire audience write down on a piece of paper at the beginning of the conference all the issues that were bothering them right then and there.  Mr. Craig then told the attendees to put the paper away for the duration of the seminar.

On the last day of the conference he asked for another volunteer to come up on stage for a tapping demonstration to be done by him. Apparently no one raised their hand. At last, he asked the group to take out that paper on which they all had written the list that bothered them and take a look at it. It was right then that Mr. Craig realized the reason no one volunteered. He immediately saw that most of the issues written on those hundreds of slips of paper had been resolved while each attendee tapped along with the client up on the stage. That amazing occurrence was dubbed “Borrowed Benefits,” and we see it routinely in every single group or classroom where tapping goes on.

There is a physiological reason why it happens, but I don’t believe that was discovered until long after Mr. Craig figured out the concept.

God put in us something called, “Mirror Neurons.” These neurons are a particular type of brain cell that fires when we see an action performed. To a certain extent it is imitation. We sneeze; someone else in the room sneezes. We grab our glass to drink; another person does the same. It might even account for why a 2 year old wants his friend’s truck to play with right now, or the concept of a mob getting out of control during a sporting event. We learn by watching others, but more importantly we heal by doing the same thing.

It appears mirror neurons give us the ability to empathize with others and they give us the ability to interpret facial expression in others – we intrinsically understand what a frown means, or was that understanding learned from another, but interpreted by our mirror neurons? This reaction seems to be automatic, not something we put any thought into.

Two locations in the brain where these neurons have been observed are the premotor cortex and the inferior parietal cortex. There are theories that these mirror neurons help with bonding between people, and that the mirroring intensifies over time.

Let’s get back to the gals in the room talking, and hopefully tapping, about their problems.
I often challenge people around me to think about taking Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT or tapping) a step further.

Maybe this article will motivate you to consider doing this, too.

All of us, me included, love to whine and complain about all of the awful things other people have done to us over the years. So and so did this and so and so did that to me, and “it ruined my life.”  I hear it all the time.

As we tap, God neutralizes the emotional impact of whatever awful things have happened in our lives, and forgiveness begins to set in, resulting in peace within our soul. I want to toss out a challenge.

What happens if we turn the table and ask God to point out to us where we went wrong – where we ourselves hurt someone else, inadvertently or intentionally?

That suggestion often sends the roomful of women into a buzz of conversation. “What? I was the victim. What are you talking about?” as they look incredulously at each other.

“I’m serious,” I reply, “Who in this room has the guts to ask God what they specifically did wrong to hurt someone in their life.”

This idea takes some intense thought and rumination. It is self-incriminating. This is where the meat hits the bones of Christian confession and repentance.

Can you ask God that question?

Frankly, it took me a very long time to do it. I cannot ask you to do so without me first trying it, can I?

I didn’t like at all what I heard from God. I’m not going to list all the sins I have committed in the past that hurt others here, but I will tell you it was an illuminating conversation with God.
Should you truly want to heal from top to bottom and from inside to the outside, try asking God that particular question.

My guess is He will require of you what He required of me. I had stuff to repent of, and it is the best thing that ever happened to me short of learning how to tap!

It cleared my soul and spirit. It repaired my relationship with my Savior. To date, God has not required me to go to any of the people He told me I hurt and ask their forgiveness. Sometimes God requires that, and if He does of you, please go do it.

Often we know in our hearts our intentions toward someone were wrong, but that person never picked up on it as you meant it. God often doesn’t require us to ask forgiveness for those things because it would mean we would probably hurt the person in the explaining what we did and what we meant to do. We would cause more pain in the apologizing and asking for forgiveness. It’s our own guilt He wants us to deal with.

So, back to my original question: How much healing guts do you actually have? Are you willing to go that extra mile with God, and allow Him to show you where you went relationally wrong? Instead of us always complaining what others did to us, are we open enough to be told and to understand what our behaviors and words mean to others?

Only you and God can figure this one out. I simply offer it as a suggestion as an advanced technique you can use for further clearing with EFT.

God bless your tapping!

What is the truth of generational curses?

http://www.ukapologetics.net/08/generationalcurses.htm

Scripture does teach that the sins of the fathers are heaped to the 3rd or 4th generations. They are "curses" of sorts if those generations cannot disband or dismantle the "curse". Why does illegitimacy abound in some families? Divorce? Homosexuality? Drug abuse?

I would like to purpose another thought here: What happens if these generational curses actually exist, as I have thought they do, within the biology, like the article posted above? Epigenetics teaches it isn't a true "heredity", but a familial or enviromental heredity, meaning the behavior or traits learned from the family elders + the "traits" or habits of the family elders of how to handle their emotional issues again handed down through the generations.

Why do we eventually become our mothers and fathers? We don't want to do that, but that is the way we have learned to handle our emotional and psychological issues. Can we change? Absolutely! Part of that change comes through a new life in Jesus Christ. He calls us to have a renewed mind.

Why then do born again Christians still carry around all this crap and junk? My personal opinion is it is repercussions of the family sin. When we confess our sin to God, does He automatically remove the consequences of our sin? Nope! We screw up, we must face the consequences. Isn't that what we teach our kids? And that is why we try to protect our kids from behaviors that can have life long consequences.

Many times God intervenes supernaturally, removing the consequences for His divine purposes. Most times He uses natural means to heal us, or give us coping mechanisms to deal with whatever we now reap from our sinful nature. This is a complicated subject, but one we Christians within the Energy Psychology arena need to explore and deal with because God has handed us, and again I know EFT and Matrix Reimprinting, a tool or mechanism with which to deal with these generational sin issues. And most of our emotions and bad habits are just that, if we are honest and look sincerely at them.

Few churches discuss "sin" anymore. We make mistakes. No, we sin! My Christian EFT technique is based on confession and repentance of sinful emotions. Someone within a family needs to step up, taking responsibility for the family "sin" and stop handing it down through subsequent generations.

Ad Majorem Dei Gloriam

Saturday, January 11, 2014

Curiously, as I read the big, long article I posted below, it hit me that the author put into words something I think the Holy Spirit has been whispering to me for the past 3 weeks. He whispers and I ponder for awhile, and then He clarifies, just as He always does to me through an article or a conversation. I'm very quiet during this contemplation period, not even articulating to Brad what I'm thinking, only because it is a stirring in my soul, and I finally wised up to know Who is speaking. I need to await His pleasure and conclusion of what He has to tell me. He just did it again! Wow! As I tap with clients, particularly the non-Christians ones, and specifically the ones who use the term "Universe" as their theological base, I've wondered how do I gently, but passionately bring in God as a refutation to their concept of "Universe" without being completely disrespectful and coming off, like so many Christians do, in an alienating manner. I need a God glorifying way to say He is in charge without coming off looking like a Bible thumper. I want to be a bridge between these crazy new agers and us Christians. I have the mechanism in my hand. Now, how do I say it kindly? In their language, but not compromising my own? I haven't figured out how to do that just yet, but this Matt guy's article says to me exactly what I have been thinking! We can use Christian EFT as that bridge, pointing the new agers to the King of the Universe, the real King! I believe that is why I'm so empathic about this going to the churches, and then coming back out of the churches. This is language these unbelievers understand. The Church can talk to them without compromising its own personal belief system! Anyway, I will continue to ponder the exact line I need to say. It will come. It will be a classic. It will be God's words to those I tap with; those He has chosen to hear these exact, perfect words of His. I just find it so curious how and what He uses to talk with us. Now that my soul is quiet; much of the overwhelming emotions released; the ceaseless chatter gone, I can actually listen. It is incredibly refreshing! http://mattstone.blogs.com/christian/2009/08/energy-healing-a-christian-theological-appraisal.html For more information, go to www.eftforchristians.com To schedule a free EFT consultation coaching session, email me at eftforchristians@gmail.com Always remember to take complete responsibility for your own health and well-being.
