Christian EFT Tapping Tips

Did you know studies show one hour of Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT, tapping) drop your cortisol level 24%?

That is a huge drop. Rarely does any technique do this as quickly and as effectively as EFT!

So, that all said, have you considered tapping while watching a movie, listening to a sermon, or during prayer?

If not, I suggest you do consider it.  While EFT is most effective when you tune into the "problem" i.e. feeling about some event, non-thinking tapping still should drop your cortisol level, raising your DHEA level, because your body understands what you are doing.  It's all in the neurophysiology!

DHEA level is what keeps your immune system healthy. Cells go into rest and repair when the DHEA level is up and the cortisol, or stress hormone, is down.

I instruct all my clients to tap as much and as often as they can. We are all under way too much stress in this crazy, fast paced world.

EFT is not a substitute for medical care. Take care of your own emotional and physical health.

Blessings in Christ!

Seasonal Reactions and EFT/Tapping

It's seasonal allergy time of the year.

Has anyone used tapping to reintegrate the symptoms?

Tap specifically on each symptom itself.

Ask the Holy Spirit to reveal what the symptoms mean and what event or memory is buried in them, and then tap the negative emotions completely out of the memory.

Personally, I have found that often seasonal allergies are grief based.

If that is true for you, what are you grieving? Death? Relationship? Job? Accident? Divorce? Bad marriage?

EFT & Sin and its Emotional Impact

Recently, a friend of mine phoned to discuss Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT).  Brenda (name changed) is a devout Christian woman, as I am, but she had concerns about an audio she had, at my request, listened to recently.
She outlined that concern in one statement, “It sounds like to me that we are healing ourselves” when using EFT.
That statement is the second most common Christian response to EFT.  I sadly hear it much too often.

Is this concept of healing ourselves the underlying dichotomy between humanism and Christianity?  Are humans taking credit, proudly, for what God performs, denying the Creator His due?
I think so. Humanism has been around since the Garden of Eden days. Man trying to replace God with anything that comes to mind, eliminating from us humans any responsibility for acting morally and uprightly, doing what in our minds is correct, or relativistic. Man makes the rules, not God.
George Gaylord Simpson, the late paleontologist of Harvard, wrote:
“Man stands alone in the universe, a unique product of a long, unconscious, impersonal, material process with unique understanding and potentialities. These he owes to no one but himself, and it is to himself that he is responsible. He is not the creature of uncontrollable and undeterminable forces, but is his own master. He can and must decide and manage his own destiny” (1953, p. 155).
However, Scripture says in Romans 1:28: “Furthermore, just as they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, so God gave them over to a depraved mind, so that they do what ought not to be done”.
And again in Romans 1:25:  “They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshipped and served the creature rather than the Creator”.
St. Paul said it well in these 2 Scripture verses. Man rejects God and His eternal teachings, creating his own warped, misguided, immoral mind and misconstrued behavior, tainting everything around him with these untruths.
Humanists have set forth their creed in Humanist Manifesto I (1933) and again in the Humanist Manifesto II (1973), stressing a belief system that man’s ideas are the most important, and denouncing anyone who has faith in a personal God and Savior as out of touch with reality. They write:   “We believe, however, that traditional or dogmatic or authoritarian religions that place revelation, God, ritual, or creed above human needs and experience do a disservice to the human species. Any account of nature should pass the tests of scientific evidence; in our judgment, the dogmas and myths of traditional religions do not do so.… We find insufficient evidence for belief in the existence of a supernatural; it is either meaningless or irrelevant to the question of the survival and fulfillment of the human race.… Promises of salvation or fear of eternal damnation are both illusory and harmful. They distract humans from present concerns, from self-actualization, and from rectifying social injustices. Modern science discredits such historic concepts as the “ghost in the machine” and the “separable soul.” Rather, science affirms that the human species is an emergence from natural evolutionary forces. As far as we know, the total personality is a function of the biological organism transacting in a social and cultural context. There is no credible evidence that life survives the death of the body” (1973, pp. 15-17).
Note the comment of “pass the tests of scientific evidence”.  Once again, humanists hearken back to the philosophy of 16th century Rene Descartes, who dismantled the centuries old theology of an integrated human, one that was physical and spiritual. We are not God or gods, as new age thinking suggests, but we are spiritual beings that also possess a physical body. Humanists believe no God exists, nor does man have need of Him.  Reason and intelligence will rule the day. Ethics are situational. Relativism reigns supreme. What any individual feels or thinks to be right and good is then right and good for that person, no matter how it affects or impacts anyone else around the person.
This relativism opens big cans of worms, such as any behavior should be tolerated because what God says about that behavior is irrelevant. One of the biggest impacts is in the area of sexuality. Humanism allows every sexual sin. In fact, they actually encourage the expression.  Nothing is harmful. It opens the door to homosexuality, abortion, incest, free divorce, etc. Everything is permissible; nothing barred.
What happens to a Christian’s moral base when, in a momentary lapse, (s)he falls for the relativism of the humanist? Sin is committed against the Creator. Eventually, when the sinner repents of that sin and knows Jesus’ forgiveness, there are occasions when the guilt or remorse still seems overwhelming. Those emotions are so disturbing that they interfere with the believer’s worship and prayer life.
Don’t panic!  We don’t heal ourselves, but God does, as He has implanted in you a method for dealing with those emotions & their possible physical effects, finally and for all, laying them at the foot of the Cross, where they belonged all along, because Jesus has already paid the price. That method is EFT.
We give God the glory and praise for healing us. God put the tapping mechanism in us for healing & we simply do the EFT process. God heals!
As a Christian EFT practitioner, I have assisted many of my brothers and sisters through this & other clearing processes. Emotions resulting from earlier abortions, divorce, incest, sexual abuse, rape, etc. can many times be ameliorated through tapping. I would be honored to tap with you and teach you this process for moving out some spiritual blockages in your life.

How EFT Works as Presented by a Different EFT Practitioner

"The "Over focusing" on the past is usually quite different with EFT. You focus on it long enough to release the trapped emotion (blocked energy) and rewire your neural circuits to no longer respond with emotional intensity to the memory. you usually won't forget the events but with completed EFT the memories carry the same emotional charge as remembering Columbus sailed the oceans blue in 1492.

While not a usual result, i have one client tap on a time when he was about 8-10 years old and was dropped off at military academy. His father had told him they would just check it out but once he met the principle his suitcase was unloaded and his father drove off.

It was over 30 years earlier that this event happened. It took 2 and half sessions to thoroughly go through all the parts "aspects" of the event and a few months later he reported he had not been that happy in years. His depression was gone and he felt like a new person....even while carrying the license plate number of the car his father drove away in. He reported looking at it but it just didn't trigger the old feelings anymore....he had made peace with the past or released the attached emotions or rewired his neurons around that memory or released his blocked energy (which ever explanation works best for you).

In later experiences with other clients it seems to be true that the higher number of traumas a person has and or the lower level of assistance they had as a child in learning how to manage their emotions the less likely you'll get an "instant cure all" result.

Still you do gain a lasting significant level of peace with each event you resolve with EFT. (NOTE: you may not get every part or aspect of an event the first time you go through it....sometimes you get one part resolved but then your body/mind takes you to the next layer below which you didn't know was even there because the first layer was what was getting your attention. So sometimes you may need to "redo/tap again" on an event to get a few missed parts or aspects cleared up. But once you do, you can reasonably expect long term fixes.

In short you really only focus on a specific piece of/event in the past just long enough to make peace with it and then move on to the next issue of concern... EFT is not just a regurgitation of the same old things over and over again.

For myself (EFT aside) I personally believe and encourage my clients to use the past to learn from (so you don't keep making the same mistakes) and make peace with it....beyond that you should be looking forward to where you feel God is leading you in the future....but sometimes we need to make peace with the past so we can cut the hidden reins controlling our present and future.

I firmly believe God designed us to live freed from stress, the past and other emotional baggage so we can more fully live freed for a life that matters for eternity."

Military Mother Who Needed Tapping Help

I’m bringing this case to the EFT community to make a point that we practitioners are very concerned about our vets through the Stress Project (http://stressproject.org), but I think we need to actively watch for anyone else related to these PTSD soldiers, too, as many of them are suffering from the same issues as their loved ones. We need to see that they are also treated by using EFT to eliminate their issues around military deployment and retirement.

Catherine’s son is an active military soldier, serving his country proudly, but Catherine is the one who is also showing signs of PTSD. As she sat in my office, her stoicism came through – she was trying desperately to hold it together. I gave her my standard EFT how to speech & had her sign the waivers, etc. She pulled a package of tissues out of her purse, so I made sure I gave her permission to cry all she wanted.

Catherine started off with her story. I need not relate all the details and I used the standard Gary Craig EFT short cut tapping procedure, but in the beginning I essentially could not get Catherine to take a breath. She had to tell me the entire story around her son’s military career and how he ended up in the physical mess he is in. I literally couldn’t get a word in edgewise. After about 5 minutes, I told her I would listen, but she needed to pick a tapping spot & just tap while she talked, using the tap & rant technique. Everything was a SUDS of 9 for her.

Her deployed son messed up his back in basic and something else went wrong with his heart, giving him a cardiac issue, forcing him to the point where he was forbidden by the Army to exercise, although he had been a star athlete in high school. It took our US Senator to get the Army moving on issuing her son’s medical discharge, which was coming up soon, meaning he would be back home again with them. The empty nest was about to be refilled! Catherine was scared to death!

On his last leave her son was experiencing nightmares, screaming out much of the night, while keeping a loaded gun under his bed. “I’m scared for him” and the tears started in earnest. To be honest, I have not had a client cry this long or sob this hard ever! Usually, the tears dry up within a few minutes, but not so with Catherine! She cried for nearly an hour. Some of the time, I simply sat next to her, saying nothing, except reminding her to continue to tap & telling her the pain would release.

Catherine, a Christian, like we all would, had some deep-seated fears around the fact that her son would hurt someone. “He loves us so much, but I’m so afraid of what he could do. He was the gentle giant in high school, always looking out for the underling & standing up for them,” she told me.

Finally, I had an intuitive hit that she was fearful that her son might simply commit suicide, so I said, “I’m afraid he will kill himself.” I surely had that one correct!

The sobbing started all over again. Then the core issue showed itself. “I want all my kids in heaven with me, but if he kills himself, I will never see him again.” And the sobbing continued unabated.

I told her that I pushed the issue, saying what the Holy Spirit whispered to me, because it was the most awful truth she was actually thinking – the bottom line, so to speak. With the core issue out in the open, and the tears finally subsiding,

Catherine & I cleaned up on a couple other emotions to include: sorrow, regret, anger, feeling stuck, EFT’s favorite thing to do, unstick us, and other odds and ends.

When Catherine left, I could see clarity in her eyes and a steadiness that wasn’t apparent when she walked in initially. I told her so, too.

She had nicely reframed most of the issues on her own and I could see she was ready to take them on however they presented themselves. We tapped in a few of her favorite Bible passages to seal the deal.

There are 2 crowning blows that makes the synchronicity of the connectedness of us all so unbelievable is this: I had a box of toys in the corner in an old poultry gift box. Catherine spotted it and told me, “It is one of ours.”

Sure enough and I had never noticed the printing before, since this was my first meeting with Catherine, the box had her last name on it! They had sold their farm a few years back when the children had all left home.

Here I had picked up that box years before at a rummage sale & now Catherine, whose farm name was on it, was sitting in my office for EFT 10 years later!

Secondly, her R.N. daughter was leaving shortly to serve at a denominational medical mission in Africa where a friend of mine 40 years was the 2nd R.N to serve at that exact mission site! What a crazy “coincidences” these are; however, we all know there are no such things as coincidences!

As a Christian, I know God has it all lined up just the way it all should be.

EFT & Neural Pathways

Dawson Church wrote, "When you pass a signal through a neural bundle for 20 seconds or more, you stimulate it to begin creating new synaptic connections. You increase its signaling capacity. It’s like an electrical cable that gets bigger and bigger as more and more electricity flows through it.

When you have a good experience and don’t savor it for those 20 seconds or more, the size of your electrical cable — the bundle of neurons in your brain that signals pleasure — does not increase. But if you deliberately stretch out the good feelings for 20 seconds or more, you build increased capacity in your brain for carrying similar signals.

When you’re meditating, feeling good, tapping, filling your mind with loving thoughts, and having a wonderful experience, stretch it out for as long as possible. Slow yourself way down today. Waste as much time as possible gazing at the brilliant hues of a spectacular sunset. Notice the kiss of the wind on your skin. Savor the delicate flavors of a sip of your favorite tea. Listen to the patter of rain on the rooftop. Remember the last time you heard a baby laugh."

We know that every hour we think about something, whether the thought is something negative or positive, we double the neural branch in our brain around that idea.

This is why, for some of us, negative neural pathways are so hard to change. They are great big, fat trunks of neurons, synapses, dendrites and axioms. Happy thoughts or affirmations don’t seem to budge them. They are difficult to break without a tool like EFT. The thoughts are stuck, cemented into place.

EFT is the language the brain structure understands to mean, “Wake up, pay attention, I have a new job for you to do. I've changed my mind.” Tapping opens the conversation with that subconscious – the part of you that you cannot normally access and the part of you that normally runs 95-98% of your life.

Tapping has the ability, since we focus on the negative thoughts, to snap those negative neural paths, allowing new, albeit smaller, ones to grow in their stead.

Feelings like thanksgiving, happiness, joy, love all grow those new pathways, allowing the old ones to die off, literally.

This is why EFT works so well.

The “trick” is we must tap out the negative before instilling the positive; otherwise it is like pouring a tablespoon of high quality perfume in a 60 gallon barrel of sewage. The perfume, like positive affirmations (or sporadic happy thoughts), aren’t strong enough to compensate for the smell of the stinky, moldy barrel.

Give Christian EFT a try today. Tap while you pray, sing, read, and allow God to change those negative pathways in your heart and mind.  He’s love to have a conversation with you today.

Remember, EFT is not a substitute for medical care. Take complete responsibility for your own emotional and physical health.

Blessings in Christ Jesus!

EFT & Memory Fragmentation for Practitioners

This article outlines several important facts for us as we tap with trauma victims.

Trauma tends to fragment memories, totally distorting what actually happened. As an EFT coach, none of this matters. I always say truth in trauma is irrelevant. It's all about perception and that perception becomes the client's truth.

Our job is to go with whatever the client brings to the table to tap about. Truth or perception, it all has to be neutralized, if the client is to heal.

Remember that "trauma capsule" we discussed in class? The author talks about it in the latter part of this article. A client may remember what happened before the trauma and what happened after the trauma, but little is remember DURING the trauma. All the memories of the trauma specifically are often hidden away and buried by the subconscious in that "trauma capsule".

It is a protective mechanism. The trauma was too severe and too awful to actually remember.

In the end the details of what actually happened don't matter.

So, again, tap whatever the client brings to the table. Be thorough with all the different aspects. Dig, if you must, to find all those sensory specific details that lock this trauma in place. Ask tons of questions, too, if you feel the trauma needs further clearing.

Once this is thoroughly accomplished, you will have changed the client's life forever. It really is akin to a miracle!

Questions? Fire away!

Remember, EFT is not a substitute for medical help. Take personal responsibility for all of your personal emotional and physical needs.

EFT is God's Pocket Change

EFT is God’s Pocket Change!

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is an astounding healing modality.  It just really is. God uses it to open up our eyes to His possibilities for our life.

EFT works on phobias, fears, worry, cravings, addictions, physical issues, insomnia, abuse, compulsive disorder, food & environmental sensitivities and just about everything else.

God so wants us to live an abundant life that He sent Jesus to earth as our substitute for our sins, but God looks out for every area of our welfare. “And the Lord will guide you continually and satisfy your desire in scorched places and make your bones strong; and you shall be like a watered garden, like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail” Isaiah 58:11 ESV. We don’t have some deistic god who set the world in motion, and then backed off to watch both the humans and his inanimate creation do life in their own ways, playing out literally however the dice rolls with the strongest, meanest, and toughest winning the race. No, our God is alive and involved in every aspect of our lives from the moment of conception until the second He takes us home to heaven with Him. God is really in control. “The Lord of hosts has sworn: ‘As I have planned, so shall it be, and as I have purposed, so shall it stand’” Isaiah 14:24 ESV.

EFT is simply another gift from a gracious God who in His mercy understands that we humans need all the help we can get to do this thing called life.  Jesus understands it so well, as during his tenure here on earth, He experienced all the temptations and travails that we are subjected to on a daily basis, even death.

By tapping, literally, into the healing process God assigned to our bodies when He created us, He gives us another tool to bring us through life in a more wholesome and pleasant manner.

As we tap away, after confessing and repenting of whatever sins are associated with the action, our emotions of things we have done, or things that have been done to us by others, we find ourselves in a position where God becomes so much more real to us.

Our lives are not polluted with the muck and mire of negative emotions that manhandle us into disease, depression, and death. We find ourselves with eye alert and wide open taking in all that God has shown us that life can be. Suddenly His creation appears bigger and brighter than ever. Colors come alive. Details of creation around us pop into focus. We are more light-hearted. Humor abounds. We even laugh at ourselves. Things of the past no longer seem so serious. Often those details around the negative events begin to fade and float away. We have no need to remember. Those memories are not who we are.

We belong to God. God is now. Jesus is alive, as is the Holy Spirit, and both become an integral part of our life, as we find ourselves free to worship in spirit and in truth. We no longer must hide who we think we are, afraid someone might find out we aren’t who we say we are. Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks.  God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth” John 4:23-24.

Can EFT really do all this? Yes, it can. There are millions of people who use this wonderful gift from God on a routine, often daily, basis to keep their lives in tune and on track with what God has in mind for them to do for Him.

EFT really is God’s pocket change. It is so simple to learn, and so easy to use, yet it is a powerful tool, but only a small one in God’s great big arsenal of all that He has in store for you.

Are you ready to join the EFT Revolution?  I hope so. You will never regret it.

Call a Christian EFT Practitioner today. I have a list available for you – all you must do is request it.

EFT is not a substitute for medical care. Please take personal responsibility for your own emotional and physical well-being.

Psalm 131 & EFT

Psalm 131 reads,"But I have stilled and quieted my soul; like a weaned child with its mother, like a weaned child is my soul within me."

A weaned child tends not to be too happy as he likes the comfort and closeness of Mom. Eventually she finds a way to comfort herself away from mother.

EFT does that for us. It gives us a way to self-soothe, self-regulate our emotions. EFT gives us back our sense of control.

Add in our Savior and we have a winning combination.

Give tapping a try today.

Take personal responsibility for your emotional and physical well-being, as EFT is not a substitute for medical care.

Blessings in Christ!
