Paper Tigers Chasing Us

We often discuss “paper tigers” in EFT training classes. “Evolutionary” science shows us that, like animals, we often instinctively know what is dangerous and we take steps to avoid the same mistakes in the future. Today dangerous fatal situations rarely exist yet we often react to emotional events just as if these were threatening our mortality! “Indeed, the majority of discomfort (dangerous situations)is typically self- manufactured. As Mark Twain once wrote, ‘My life has been filled with terrible misfortunes-most of which never happened.’ We are our own worst enemy. So with a lack of an external battle or enemy, an internal battle has emerged. What’s more, our discomfort today typically revolves around trivial issues that are construed by our mind and body as being ruinous. The war that then takes place within us isn’t just confined to our minds - it also materializes at the cellular level. Nowhere else is this so obvious as in autoimmune illnesses, which are characterized by the absence of an external threat yet the body begins to wage a war within itself, one that takes a serious and sometimes deadly toll.” “Your Survival Instinct is Killing You” pg. 40. Marc Schoen Am I saying we do any of this on purpose? Absolutely not! Our unconscious mind reacts for us as a protective mechanism. God created it this way to keep us alive, but trauma spins it out of control, leaving us with angst, pain, emotional unsteadiness and disease. All the trauma remnants go into a body part(s). We find out 20-30-40 years later what body part(s) absorbed it. Time to let it go before we discover where that discomfort and pain all went! EFT tapping awaits you! Childhood Limiting Beliefs Hang On!

I heard Simon & Garfunkel’s song “My Little Town” other day and the lyrics got me thinking, again. Verse 3 goes as this, “And after it rains there's a rainbow and all of the colors are black. It's not that the colors aren't there, it's just imagination they lack. Everything's the same back in my little town, my little town, my little town.” For many of us our childhood trauma has locked us in just like the rainbow that lacks imagination. We were so busy protecting ourselves and our hearts from further pain, all the color of life was lacking, and we stayed small within our “little town” of our mind. We created limiting beliefs, lies, about everything around us - who we were, what we were, where we belonged, who did/didn’t love us, including God, what our abilities were, were we even safe at all, etc. For me, when I dream or just have my eyes closed I see no color, just black, white, and maybe gray. Through the decade plus of tapping, as I just about fall asleep and am in that alpha-theta brain wave state, I get glimpses of vivid pictures complete with its full compliment of appropriate colors! It’s beautiful! Once I realize consciously what I’m seeing, it all disappears! I know that as healing continues more will come. I guess my subconscious mind still, even today, doesn’t feel safe enough to go full techni-color, like the old movies called it. So how much of our trauma gets tied up into those sensory pieces? Neurologically it’s an interesting question! Sherrie Rice Smith Certified EFT Practitioner EFTforChristians.com Author of EFT for Christians 5 Book Series

Example of in the Moment Tapping

Example of in the moment tapping:

A friend phoned to tell me she heard that the uncle who sexually assaulted her was given an automobile by her father.

She wasn't too happy with this.

I asked her to tap while she talked to me. “Rant and Tap” is an actual tapping technique.

No Set-up, no rounds, no SUDs, she just picked her own acupressure point and tapped while she “yapped” to me about her feelings.

"There we go again. Reward the perp. Nothing for the victim. What are those people thinking? I'm so angry. My chest hurts. Why does no one care? I'm sad" and on and on she went.

5 minutes later she reported, "Ok, I'm finished. Let God figure it all out. I have things to do!"
The conversation was over. Phone call ended.

This news development could have ruined her day or even her week, or if dragged out because she stuffed her feelings even longer, her health could have been compromised because she continued to dwell on it long term.

She didn't. She tapped, giving it all to God.

Outcomes

EFT is an amazing tool to allow us to stop carrying emotional loads that we need to simply let go and let God handle.

Often we are too vested in other peoples' outcomes when those outcomes aren't up to us.

Tapping helps us divest ourselves of holding ourselves responsible for other peoples' actions, thoughts and habitual behaviors.

Let God handle it. Tap!

EFT is not a substitute for standard medical or psychological care, so please consult your own personal physician when needed.

Prayer & Tapping

"Tap continually while you pray. I hear people tell me they only use tapping when they feel upset about something. My best advice is to tap the entire time you pray. Don't stop. Keep going.

Make it an open, honest communication with your Lord. I often walk down the street tapping away, praying to God in my head. We just talk. What I find amazing is how often God really opens up for me different lines of thought if I tap while converse with Him. He gives me ideas that I would normally never think, let alone consider.

Much of my writing is composed while tapping and praying. While I tap, I begin talking to Him on a subject, and I will simply ask His opinion or question Him as to why something happens the way it does. Answers come."

Remorse over Sin

Thought:
"God designed us to feel remorse over sin in order to produce repentance that leads to victory (salvation, deliverance). This leaves us with no regrets. but sorrow of the world works death." 2 Corinthians 7:10 TPT
Most of the time our tapping is directed at our negative emotions that are usually centered around what someone else has done to us.
There is a time and place for us to allow the remorse (an emotion) we feel about our deeds to lead us to both repentance for the sin we committed against another AND for us to tap about how we feel about what we have done.
Paul points out that "sorrow works death."
He didn't know the emotional physiology in the depth as we now do. Sorrow, regret, and remorse stress our body and it can indeed cause dis-ease and eventually death.

Remember, once we confess our sins God remembers them no more (Hebrews 8:12), so why do we continue to carry them negatively in our body?
Are you holding onto something, perhaps punishing yourself, that you should let go? Jesus already carried whatever it is to the Cross. If you have confessed it multiple times, but still you think often about the deeds committed, perhaps time has come to tap about those feelings.
Once we tap, allowing that emotional control over us leave our body, we can do as Apostle Paul tells us earlier in this chapter.
2 Corinthians 7:1b "we must remove everything from our lives that contaminates body and spirit, and continue to complete the development of holiness within us." This is sanctification - a job EFT excels at doing! EFT frees us to move on with our life and live that way God wants us
This is a spiritual application of tapping - purification of ourselves so we can do what pleases God. Philippians 2:13 says God will revitalize us, implanting a passion in us to do what He wills.

PUNS in EFT

I received this email and I wanted to use it as a "teaching moment". Here is the email with a couple highlights:

"I wrote this today in the eye doctor’s office waiting for an appointment to have my eyes checked again for macular degeneration. While driving to the appointment, I was recalling Scriptures that tell us not to be anxious and I wondered how God expected us to never worry or be concerned. And that led to thinking about the difference between just worrying and having a legitimate concern that I was pretty sure God did not want me to turn a “BLIND EYE" — (pardon the pun). I surmised that genuine concerns were legitimate but God wanted us to give the concerns to Him and not just start worrying about them and coming to our own conclusions. My eyes don’t show macular degeneration, but he says I have 3 types of cataracts but they are not bad enough to have surgery yet.

One type on my left eye distorts lines when I am looking at them — the lines in road, the computer, tile work, etc. and we have MORE LINES IN OUR LINE OF VISION (sorry for the pun again, it is way past my bedtime) than we really notice. My left eye will distort the line in my vision on the left side, by bulging out an area of a line for a nano moment. Not all the time, just sometimes, but I am noticing it more than when it started a couple of weeks ago.

I have given the concern to God and am choosing to keep giving my worried thought to God as well and carry them. I’m tapping away as I pray."

Notice capitalized highlighted words she mentioned as "puns". They look like puns, feel like puns, but they aren't true puns!

This is EXACTLY what the subconscious mind (SC) does! When tapping pay close attention to the "wording" of what suddenly comes to mind and out of your mouth when tapping aloud. Your mind will be blown, as the SC loves homonyms, synonyms, rhymes, alliteration etc. It is in that WORD ASSOCIATION that the SC gains and thrives on perceptions! Often you GET in life EXACTLY what you SAY! You may not really mean it the way to wording sounds, but the SC mind is extremely literal and possesses no sense of humor! This is the power of the spoken word... God created the world by spoken word, etc. Your SC mind creates YOUR world by the power of your spoken word (and inner thoughts) too. Proverbs 25:11-13, Proverbs 12:18, Proverbs 16:24

When tapping pay attention to the words the Holy Spirit gives you. Often they are specific clues as to why you believe something, or the origin of where the beliefs comes from, or who led you to believe the statement in the first place.

These clues will likely give you specifics as related to your problem at hand. You then can tap on all of this new information as they likely are limiting beliefs in your life.

Remember, EFT is not a substitute for sound medical care, so please consult your own personal physician or psychologist before you use EFT.

Be blessed in Christ Jesus!

Forgiveness Devotion and Tapping

Devotion #16 on pages 47 -48 of  EFT for Christians 52 Tapping Devotions

"God is pretty clear in Scripture. We forgive others, or He won't forgive us. To me, that almost feels harsh and heartless.

I used to wonder if God didn't understand! Doesn't He know how badly other people have hurt me? How could He possibly ask me to forgive them? I don't want them to get away with their actions. In hating them, I can continue to punish them, can't I? God had to be crazy. There was no w...ay I could accomplish this leniency towards others.

Thought: Who have you yet to forgive? When you think about this person how does your body feel?"

The devotion goes on with suggestions for praying and tapping out this problem, giving it to Jesus!

Be blessed!

Another Christian's Perspective on EFT

Steven Baerg wrote this to me & I reprint it here with his permission: Steve has a great perspective on Christian EFT:
"I have personally and with clients seen EFT as the most powerful tool to help people make peace with the past so they can move forward into better feelings, thoughts and actions and for Christians a fuller experience of the freedom to fulfill God's calling for them!
My goal is to become truly excellent at EFT so that i can assist people in truly living out Christ's character in them along with gaining a huge amount of emotional freedom and peace. So I have been studying eft seriously..... I am considering after I feel I have mastered or at least come close to mastering EFT, I'll start on Matrix... at least learn what it is about and then decide.
I am a skeptic.... but open minded and quite honestly struggled over the question of EFT and Christianity a lot .... stopped using it for a while and just prayed about it...My first priority is God and if I believed EFT would interfere with our relationship with God I would have to quit EFT despite the results.... but over time I have come to see the real mechanism of action and process of EFT as being very congruent with the Bible in the sense that it cooperates so well with how He made us....(this has been about a 3-4 year journey for me)
One major understanding that has helped me greatly is that "spiritual" non Bible believers nearly always end up worshiping / idealizing what God created rather than the God who created it. Therefore it is not wrong to accept and rightly use what He created as long as we are careful to remember it is the creation you are working with NOT the creator.
Most the "new agers" around EFT look to the energy as some sort of special spiritual thing with creative power and innate life force and in that sense worship the energy... But that is a confusion between God's amazing creation and the God who created it.... once I got that figured out I have come to be pretty comfortable working with this amazing aspect of God's creation even though others mistakenly idolize it as a "god" in it's own right which is wrong. But the fact that they "worship" it doesn't change the fact that it is a potentially very helpful tool God wishes to bless us with. After all, people worship the sun... it doesn't make the sun evil or mean we can't appreciate it as a wonderful example of God's creative power and love for us."

How EFT Works as Presented by a Different EFT Practitioner

"The "Over focusing" on the past is usually quite different with EFT. You focus on it long enough to release the trapped emotion (blocked energy) and rewire your neural circuits to no longer respond with emotional intensity to the memory. you usually won't forget the events but with completed EFT the memories carry the same emotional charge as remembering Columbus sailed the oceans blue in 1492.

While not a usual result, i have one client tap on a time when he was about 8-10 years old and was dropped off at military academy. His father had told him they would just check it out but once he met the principle his suitcase was unloaded and his father drove off.

It was over 30 years earlier that this event happened. It took 2 and half sessions to thoroughly go through all the parts "aspects" of the event and a few months later he reported he had not been that happy in years. His depression was gone and he felt like a new person....even while carrying the license plate number of the car his father drove away in. He reported looking at it but it just didn't trigger the old feelings anymore....he had made peace with the past or released the attached emotions or rewired his neurons around that memory or released his blocked energy (which ever explanation works best for you).

In later experiences with other clients it seems to be true that the higher number of traumas a person has and or the lower level of assistance they had as a child in learning how to manage their emotions the less likely you'll get an "instant cure all" result.

Still you do gain a lasting significant level of peace with each event you resolve with EFT. (NOTE: you may not get every part or aspect of an event the first time you go through it....sometimes you get one part resolved but then your body/mind takes you to the next layer below which you didn't know was even there because the first layer was what was getting your attention. So sometimes you may need to "redo/tap again" on an event to get a few missed parts or aspects cleared up. But once you do, you can reasonably expect long term fixes.

In short you really only focus on a specific piece of/event in the past just long enough to make peace with it and then move on to the next issue of concern... EFT is not just a regurgitation of the same old things over and over again.

For myself (EFT aside) I personally believe and encourage my clients to use the past to learn from (so you don't keep making the same mistakes) and make peace with it....beyond that you should be looking forward to where you feel God is leading you in the future....but sometimes we need to make peace with the past so we can cut the hidden reins controlling our present and future.

I firmly believe God designed us to live freed from stress, the past and other emotional baggage so we can more fully live freed for a life that matters for eternity."

EFT - Nothing is as it appears

Dawson Church teaches in his EFT classes that, "Nothing appears as it really is."
Today, while cleaning our bathrooms, a thought came to me around this idea.

First, why does God always seem to use the ordinary, nearly "profane" times to speak deeply to us? Jesus, when curing those around Him, used spittle, mud, and bathing facilities as physical means to make those He cured whole. He does the same to me.....often. Maybe I should just set up shop in the bathroom!

If, as Dawson says, what we see in the physical realm as related to our bodies is not as it appears because the physical, as the new physiology teaches, tends to be rooted in the emotional, doesn't that parallel what God does in the spiritual world?

We humans without the mind and eyes of Christ have no idea what is going on around us in the spiritual realm. Apostle Paul talks about those spiritual battles raging all around us. Do we actually see them?

No, we don't, except with our spiritual Jesus eyes, and even then it is difficult to believe it all is really happening. We deny those spiritual battles, and we deny that many of the physical manifestations in us are really our emotional issues coming home to roost within our bodies.
Jesus sometimes forgave sin, and then healed. Other times, He healed, and then forgave the cured person of his sins.

This sounds like a chicken or the egg scenario. Which does our God do?

Honestly, I don't know, but knowing my God, I suspect He is very creative, doing just as He pleases when He so pleases to do it!

The longer I live, the more I see so many, many parallels between our physical life and our spiritual life.

We humans seem to separate them, and even we born-again committed Christians don't at times seem to get it either.

God has set up His eternal principles as to how the universe, creation, and humanity works. It's beginning to look more and more similar. Everything is a bigger or smaller version of something else, all reflection of the Father Himself.

As an example, fractals is one of these ideas.  I don't profess to even begin to understand mathematical fractals, but I see the esthetic-ness in the them; the artistic beauty. And I see how God has set up everything He created in the same basic manner. It's so simply that it confounds the most brilliant of scientists, just like the salvation He offers in Jesus is so simple that, sadly, so many people simply miss it!

I found this definition of an artistic fractal on the internet: "A geometric pattern that is repeated at ever smaller (or larger) scales to produce (self-similar) irregular shapes and surfaces that cannot be represented by classical (Euclidian) geometry.

"Relative to science, fractals are essentially geometric shapes or forms that are represented in natural objects, from a fern leaf or tree, to a spider web or snowflake, to larger phenomena such as clouds, hurricanes, or even galaxies in space. The discovery of fractals allowed for defining irregular shapes which could not be defined, or represented before by mathematics. One could define (or model mathematically) a square, rectangle, triangle, etc., but one could not define, or model, the irregular shape of a cloud formation, or tree outline, or coastline.

"One very common shape or form, found both in fractals & throughout nature, is the spiral. This is one of the most common forms represented in the fractals one sees frequently on the internet, and this mathematical shape is pervasive throughout nature as well. Is there a connection between the mathematics and science, and creation? Fractals have been called the "Thumbprint of God", perhaps they are!" http://fractalarts.com/SFDA/whatarefractals.html

Our Creative God often, when we seem to need it the most, offers us a glimpse of Himself. As He opens Himself up, allowing us to know small pieces of Him, I see the interaction and the interconnectedness of our emotions, our physical selves, and our spiritual selves, just like fractals appear to be a possible building block of nature. The deeply profound is found in simplicity.

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) often seems to be that unique tool God uses to make much of this make sense to my human mind. He so uniquely created us to remain in communion with Him. The more I study His Word and all the newly uncovered science, the more I see where EFT surely appears to be the tool that allows it all to make the most sense!

The God of the Universe continues daily to astound me with His diversity and beauty. I don't profess to know the Mind of God, but I surely do want more of Him, more of His wisdom, grace, and mercy in my life.

Open my eyes, Lord, open my eyes!

Mindfulness - Pay Attention

God's Word says, "“Give your entire attention to what God is doing right now, and don’t get worked up about what may or may not happen tomorrow. God will help you deal with whatever hard things come up when the time comes." Mt 6:34

Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is a wonderful tool to do just that!

Remove the emotions around whatever is going on in your life, and allow God to deal with them.

Tap and let God!

It's Ok to Not Be Ok

Recently, I have heard from so very many Christians who feel so very guilty about not feeling ok.

Many of them have stresses and strains of life. Marriage, finances, children, jobs, elderly parents, neighbors, and friends' problems weigh them down. Often times they have no idea where to turn and the guilt sets in because they feel overburdened when they don't rest in and rely upon God's help.

Well, what if Christian Emotional Freedom Techniques (CEFT) is God's answer?

I try to explain to these hurting brothers and sisters in Christ that God really is listening, but sometimes He answers in ways we don't expect.

Few of us would hesitate to take an antibiotic for an infection, or have an x-ray done when we think we've broken a bone, so why do we hesitate to do some tapping when we feel stressed?

EFT, especially done from a Christian perspective, is no less a healing modality than any other method done to make us feel better, and according to studies and much anecdotal evidence, it is much more effective than talk therapy because we are actually untriggering ourselves with the tapping.

Think about learning EFT today. Join me in Milwaukee for classes to do just that. I have one coming up this week - September 10-13th, 2015, and the classes for 2016 are listed on my website EFTforChristians.com .

We need and are looking for more Christian EFT practitioners, so if the Holy Spirit is leading you in that direction, consider joining me for EFT classes soon.

If you are a Christian EFT practitioner, please contact me, as I would love to add you to our Practitioner list.

EFT is never a substitute for medical care. Call your personal physician should you need medical attention. Please take responsibility for all of your own emotional and physical health. God bless you!

We Must Remember!

Jeremy Camp's song We Must Remember is a great reminder that God died once and for all for us!  He has tossed our sins as far as the east is from the west - He remembers them no more!

EFT is a process that God uses to make us forget our confessed sins and move on to do the job He ordained for us to do for His Kingdom before we were born!

Remember, satan condemns; the Holy Spirit convicts.

If you have confessed your sin, including those bad habits, hatred, anger, etc., and still they plague you and you cannot seem to move beyond it, conquering the behavior, remember it is satan messing with you.

Try EFT - God is faithful to make us more and more in His image if we just use the processes and mechanisms He laid out for us to use.

Here is Jeremy's song for your enjoyment!

Thanksgiving and Christian EFT

Anytime we tap, we tap from a negative perspective. It's the way EFT works best.

Tapping positively is simply giving yourself a pep talk. It rarely works.

As Christians; however, there is ONE time you can tap positively.

When we are giving God thanks for all the blessings received.

There are something like 88 Thanksgiving verses in the Bible.

God likes to hear His children thank Him for what He has given them.

So, if you insist on tapping on the positive, pick out your favorite thanksgiving verses, and tap while you recite them, adding in specific prayers for the special things in your life that God has given you and ones that you appreciate!

Some thanksgiving verse suggestions:  1 Thessalonians 5:18, Colossians 3:17, Ephesians 5:20, James 1:17,  Colossians 4:2, Psalm 95:2, Isaiah 12:4-5, 1 Chronicles 29:13, Psalm 100:4, & Philippians 4:6.

Remember, to take full responsibilty for your emotional health.

Contact me at EFTforChristians@gmail.com to make an appointment to tap!

Forgiveness & EFT

The more I read the more I get what is going on underneath all of this EFT stuff.

Forgiveness is the bottom line. It's what Jesus preached about alot, but when is the last time you heard a pastor tell you how to forgive?

Yep! Never! All we ever heard is forgive and forget.

Well, it doesn't work that easy. I'm tired of listening to it.

Forgetting and denial and stuffing it has never gotten a Christian one inch closer to forgiveness. We Christians are the best preachers of "get over it" I've ever seen. And mostly because we don't want to listen to someone else's pain. Why? Because it, too, triggers us. We feel it and it reminds us of our own pain.

The hurt is too deep and too intense. It's glued into our physiology the way God created it to be. Once Adam and Eve sinned, the shame of it got stuck in us for succeeding generations. It's called original sin.

Until each of us is willing to go back into the pain and look at it again, feeling it, and allowing Jesus to release it, not us release it, nothin' ever going to happen.

Tapping is the way God created in us to release it. Once we release enough of our garbage, the forgiveness just plain comes naturally. We eventually feel no angst against whomever hurt us.

They may never, ever, ever change their behavior, but that is NOT our job to change them!  That is the HS's job. Our job is to, with the help of the HS, change ourselves. Cooperate in God's method of sanctification. EFT is one method.
