Words Becoming Reality

Listen to yourself speak!

Can we hear ourselves speaking negatively positive?

By putting a positive spin on a negative thought doesn't make either our speech or our thoughts positive! It's still negative.

Examples: "If we have an accident we have sufficient insurance to get us through."

"Even though genetically I will probably get cancer because my family is riddled with it, God will take care of me."

"I'm accident prone, so even if I fall off this ladder, I hope I will just bounce."

Although those are poor examples, and a good one eludes me at this moment (!), perhaps a better way of dealing with these types of thoughts that eventually become speech is to tap about our thoughts and feelings about an "accident" or "cancer" or the "genetics" or being "accident prone."

Something else is going on underneath in the subconscious mind that even allows these ideas to surface & to stick.

With some mindfulness, listening to the words we use, and some tapping, our speech patterns can change.

Why would we want to do this?

Words and thoughts become our reality. Dwelling on a thought for an hour doubles the nerve connections around that thought, hardening them into becoming our default thinking. Once the default thinking becomes our go-to thought about a topic, our subconscious mind often brings it to reality because nerve connections in the mind talk to nerve connection in every other body part.

Philippians 4:8 tells us, "Finally, brothers {and sisters}, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is just, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable, if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think about these things." ESV
