EFT & Wellness

Dr. Candace B. Pert, Ph.D., Everything You Need to Know to Feel Go(o)d, Hay House, Inc., Carlsbad, California, 2006, page 35. Dr. Pert writes:

"'This psychosomatic network requires a new way of thinking about physiology in order to be understood.  In the reigning-paradigm mind-set, the term psychosomatic is used pejoratively, as if symptoms that are psychosomatic are false and don't deserve attention or treatment. After all, they can't be 'real,' because they're all in your mind!

"But in the new view of medicine and wellness, a psychosomatic state is the basis for a fresh approach to healing disease; for feeling well emotionally; and for creating a different, more desirable reality. Yes, your symptoms are in your body, but they are also always in your mind, either consciously or subconsciously. Mind and body are not split in two, so what happens in one occurs in the other, too.  This is the fundamental tenet of what I call the new-paradigm physiology.'"

Rene Descartes (1596-1650) began this dualistic split between spirit and body in the 16th century. Up until that time the Church frowned upon scientists probing the body to find its "secrets". It was pretty much simply forbidden. Because he was a mathematician & scientist, he looked at everything in those terms. Mathematics defined the entire physical world. The physical could be seen, but the mental (emotional & spiritual) could not, and Descartes separated them into two completely different realms. In his mind, neither one had anything to do with the other. If the mental, meaning spiritual, can't be measure then it all fell outside the walls of the scientific castle. It was left to the priests to decide. Scientists wouldn't touch it.

This all worked well for a couple of centuries, as it kept the scientists out of prison for meddling in spiritual affairs of the mind. It also has given us today a very mechanical sort of medicine. Take a pill and all will be well. Most physicians aren't taught, nor have, or take the time today to ask a patient what is going on in their lives, meaning emotionally or spiritually. Thus, we still are suffering the effects of Descartes' philosophy.  It's doesn't seem to be serving us too well anymore.

Illness is more than just a mechanistic breakdown of the body. And the paragraph above from Dr. Pert shows, there is a new approach to medicine. Much more is happening than meets the physical eye. Our emotions and spiritual state do impact our health.  In fact, they probably impact us more than we could ever rightly imagine.

As this new approach and the new scientific evidence continues to mount, it is time we all begin to reexamine our health in light of these new, or resurrected, ideas. Spirit was once part of medicine, back centuries, when the whole man was treated. Unfortunately, centuries ago we didn't have antibiotics or surgery to help heal, as we do now.

Many of the complementary "energy medicine" modalities of today are beginning to reconnect these 2 realms. If the emotional health impacts physical health, why not use both to treat disease? Why not explore & "pull out" any negative emotional events, and then treat what is left of the disease with modern medicine? Sometimes, negative emotional events can also be associated with some spiritual issue, too, like unforgiveness or unconfessed sin. Illness is the effect of sin in our world. Because EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) does ease many physical symptoms because those same symptoms are rooted in emotional/spiritual events of the past, maybe time has come to consider using it in addition to conventional medical treatment?

EFT & Marriage

Marriage is that psychosocial arrangement we all enter into with happiness and bliss, isn’t it? Normally, it all works great until we learn way too much about our spouse; leaving us with feelings of what in the world did I get myself into. I suspect there are few people in a married or committed relationships that don’t at one time or another wonder what happened to make it all go so very wrong. Well, I’m here to tell you from first-hand experience there is hope! I’m going to make this story very personal, with permission from my husband Brad. I opened up, making myself a bit vulnerable, while in NYC helping with EFTU Level 1 and 2 classes. I’m going to do the same here.

Both Brad & I came from nasty childhoods, dealing with episodes and incidences no child should have to ever endure. It was this early abuse that actually brought us together. I know, for me, I figured it would draw us together, as we both would surely instinctively understand where the other had come from. This was all pre-EFT and I have since seen and well understood how very wrong we both were!

As the years progressed, the relationship became more embattled. I now see what exactly went on. I married a man just like my parents. Oh, he didn’t resemble anything they actually did, nor were the external behaviors even remotely similar, but his style of dealing with life’s ups and downs surely was. Denial was his best defense. If one ignores it all, it all will go away. No matter how many ways I explained to him what I needed in the relationship, nothing changed. And then I caught myself nitpicking just like Mom did to me. Nothing Brad did was good enough. The downhill slide had begun in earnest. We raised his two sons from a first marriage in our house. The boys’ mother was still involved. The tension from that was on. Then about ten years ago Brad was laid off from his engineering job permanently; the company closed. Now, we had 24/7 together.

The problems really started. It was too much time spent in each other’s company. I had plenty to nitpick about now. It wasn’t too long until we were literally fighting every day. It soon led to nothing but fighting. I, as a RN, had no idea how to stop it. I was a depressed, embittered, angry, crying, lashing out woman. My Dad’s words of, “No man will ever put up with you for long,” rang hourly in my ears. I was going to lose my marriage and Dad would be right. What was I going to do? I’m sure Brad felt the same way. Were two women going to walk out on him? At the Eleventh Hour, God provided. Emotional Freedom Techniques walked into our lives! I hired, without Brad’s permission, an EFT practitioner to work through his hatred for his parents. He never believed me when I told him he hated his parents; he does believe me now. Hatred eats us up. It burns holes in everything and everyone around us. It supersedes and melts any love that existed. Nothing survives in its wake. It’s impossible.

I hired my own EFT coach, too. I took EFTU’s Level 1 and 2 classes. What I want now to tell all of you readers is this: Please don’t give up on your marriage. Divorce costs big money, discounting the emotional pain involved, too. My best advice to you based on personal experience. Convince your spouse to take EFTU Levels 1 and 2 classes together.

Seriously, work on your own issues. Your spouse is not the problem. The problem is you. You aren’t a bad person! Your background and cognitive childhood learning has led you to the specific person who triggers you. You have attracted what you know. But there is hope! Work through all those childhood personal issues.

Free yourself to be the person you know you can be and in that process watch your marriage heal. It can work unilaterally, but it works even better when both of you are willing to use EFT on your own stuff!

Today, I stand amazed to say our marriage is mostly healed. Yes, it worked that well. It’s taken a few years of a lot of tapping on both our parts, but we are stronger and healthier than I ever imagined. My Dad is NOT going to be right this time around! Oh, we have our moments. For heaven’s sake, we are still married! Now, we stop and tap before either of us says something stupid that we will regret later. It usually tends to be one of us starts tapping right in front of the other. We’ve made a commitment not to get angry about that, but to take it as an act of love for the other. And, it is. Hurtful things don’t tend to come out of the mouth of someone tapping. We then both go to our respective tapping places in the house, tap away what is going on INSIDE each of us, not the other person, and come back sometimes to talk about it, but many times all the tension simply dissolves, and we go on our merry way finishing up the day’s activities.

These fights and arguments have nothing to do with us. Really, you might ask. The triggering mechanisms behind them are all those perceptions and ideas we picked up from our parents, grandparents, neighbors, aunts and uncles. Those run our lives and our marriages. Tap them away; save your marriage. Give your children the greatest gift on earth – parents who love each and act like they do! About $1500 for EFTU classes with a certified trained instructor is cheaper than any attorney on planet Earth, or marriage counselor, for that matter. Oh, we tried all the conventional marriage counselor routes with no improvement in our relationship.

I highly recommend trying EFT. Go the EFTU “EFT Training” page and sign up for classes today and watch your marriage heal before your eyes. Hire a certified EFTU practitioner, if your issues are difficult or heavy. You can find them under “EFT Resources” tab. You’ll be surprised how well EFT works. I know Brad and I were!

EFT & Standing in the Gap - Depression

EFT & Standing in the Gap

Ezekiel 22:20 reads, “Thus I have searched among them for someone who could build a wall or stand in the breach before me to keep me from destroying the land; but I found no one”.
God always looks for someone, a Christian, to stand in the gap for another. Who is available? Who is willing? Sadly, today, not many people are. We are too busy, too pre-occupied with our own lives in this rattle trap hectic world.
Many times, when this Scripture verse is cited, it is always used in conjunction with intercessory prayer for an unbeliever. I want to take the context a bit further. Prayer is absolutely essential, without a doubt. God wants us to ask and He is faithful to answer, but the step further I’m discussing is actually physically standing in the gap for the hurting person.
What is bringing this thought forward is I have a friend from church that is having an awful time, right now, with depression.  No one wants to hang around a depressed person. It’s nasty. They cry, whine, talk negatively, and just mostly wish they were dead, to put it about as plainly as I can, as a R.N.  How do I know this? I’ve been in this dear sister’s shoes before myself.  Not only did the emotions of depression near drown me, but it went even a step further. I wanted to be dead. I wanted out of my misery, and eliminate myself as the source of misery for everyone around me.  I hated myself. I was angry at everyone and everything. The pain was nearly unbearable.
So, what happens when a person feels this way?  Everyone avoids them!  Unless you have experienced firsthand, or known someone close to you who has been depressed, you have absolutely no idea what to do or how to help a depressed person. The last thing you want to do is spend time with them. You run in the opposite direction as quickly as you can.
However, all this does to the depressed person is to make them feel more isolated and depressed, compounding the problem. They don’t care about themselves, and, now, it appears neither does anyone else. It is a horrible position to be in.
I would like to suggest a solution. A useable, concrete, viable solution to the problem - teach the depressed one to tap. Yes, use Emotional Freedom Techniques on the symptoms!  The more they cry, the deeper they are feeling the effects and emotions of their depression and sadness. Tap, and keep tapping until the crying breaks. It works.  The person will eventually stop crying, and you have begun the process of changing those negative neural connections within the physiology God created, directing them toward a healthier and optimistically balanced outlook on life.
I want to go one step further. Tapping on people with depression-like symptoms takes perseverance; it must be repeating over and over until relief is obtained. Not only does the saddened friend feel overwhelmed, but they also feel very much alone. I would suggest asking them if company is something that strengthens them, giving them hope that someone actually cares.  If so, then offer to come visiting every other day and tap with them, keeping their spirits up and the neural connections moving in the positive directions. Often, EFT appointments are made every week or every other week, allowing the neurons to revert back to those deeply set negative positions. Try tapping frequently, encouraging your sad friend to do so for themselves if they are able. Offer, if you have time and the inclination, to simply sit with them quietly.
If the friend is having a particularly bad day when all it seems they are able to do is cry, try tapping on them. Just sit quietly and tap for them on whatever meridian points you can comfortably reach, without getting yourself into too many body fluids.  If you can only use the top of the head point, side of the eye, and the K-27 collarbone spot, it is good enough. Just keep tapping until the crying ceases. It will. I promise. You have just helped move a mountain of emotional garbage without ever really knowing what was involved in it. You don’t need to know the exact issue(s). All that is important for EFT to work is for the person to feel what s(he) is feeling. If they are crying, they are feeling the pain! The body and subconscious knows exactly what is going on and exactly what the person is experiencing, meaning it knows what it needs to clear and which emotions to move out. The Holy Spirit does all the thinking work; you just tap.
And while you tap, pray for your friend. Pray for healing and wholeness. Quietly pray or pray out loud- whatever you feel comfortable in doing.  “Confess your sins to each other and pray for one another so that you may be healed” James 5:16.
You have just stood in the gap for a friend!  Physically stood in the gap, as you have no idea what your friend is really thinking or feeling about life and death, unless they have chosen to share that with you. All those sadness based emotions must be moved along into the dustbin of history, if your friend is to heal.
Stand in the gap for them. Tap for them. Pray for them. Sit with them, even if it is in silence. Be a presence for them, as Jesus is for us. We are told to do what we can in the natural world, allowing God to take care of the supernatural one. Believe for a healing for your friend until they can believe it can happen for them. “Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it and it will be ours” Mark 11:24.  For those of us who know EFT, God equips us and commissions us to move forward and heal others. St. Augustine said it best, “Without God, we cannot. Without us, God will not."

Jesus stood in the gap of sin for us when He went to the Cross on Calvary to give us new life and set our feet on the pathway to heaven. It’s the least you can do for a fellow Christian, or anyone else, for that matter!

Metaphysical, Ethereal Tapping

Can I even explain what happened yesterday when I did my own personal tapping with Irene Baum, EFT-INT? I’m surely going to give it my best shot. This is the metaphysical, ethereal, woo-woo part of EFT, but it all works! As I continue to finish clearing those last fragments of my childhood abuse, I’m down to the hard-core, deeply embedded, dark, hidden stuff. This takes work to root it all out, not necessarily hard work, just mindful concentration, understanding exactly what I’m feeling where. I often wonder how many people go to this depth to do what I am doing. This process has taken me 27 months to accomplish. Life had been so disastrous emotionally for me that now I want every single vestige of it all gone! Is that possible? Well, EFT & Scripture teach everything is possible. I’m out to prove that theory! I phoned Irene for an extra session, as I now know the symptoms of another “big one” coming, an emotion begging to be released from my psyche. This takes some intense mindfulness to see/understand the subtle changes in my behavior. Because I have moved so much emotional stuff, I have found myself now in a creative space, something I have never known before. Prior to this, I was simply trying to survive emotionally, keeping my nose above the overwhelm line so I didn’t drown in the negative memories. In fact, I used to tell people I had no creative ability. I was a kid of science. That is no longer true. I’m both now. When stuff is percolating underneath the surface, begging to be freed, I find I cannot write, I cannot read, nor can I think. I manage to do some emails, play a few games on my iPod, take a walk, maybe go to the gym in some half-hearted manner, but that is it. I waste my life! I’m back to existing. I pretty much dislike all TV, so that isn’t an option either, as it is for many people. I don’t choose to waste time, so, Irene, let’s go! The body sensation this time was totally different than I had ever experienced. I felt a deep-seated, left sided, interior chest pain. Oh, I have chest pain all the time while tapping, but this moved location on me. It had to do with deception. “EFT will never work for my weight, even though it works for every other person in the universe” was my premise. I knew this deception thing went way back. I always think I have life or events figured out and somebody pulls the rug out from under me. Always. I feel like a fool, like everyone does this to me on purpose, just to laugh at me. This was my parents’ operating MO, or that is how I perceived it to be. We tapped a bit to release the deception, and Irene did something different (she is always coming up with different!). She put me in her chair, facing “my” chair, telling me to have my Mom sit there. Oh, ok. Now, Irene tells me, tune into my chest and tell her what in the world this new & different chest pain was all about. That’s when I noticed the big, black bowling ball! No, bigger than a bowling ball, and it was tied to my heart with 6 big, thick, oily, old, smelly (I could almost smell the oil) hawsers from the Newport, R.I. whaling ship days. No wonder my chest hurt carrying that around. The ball was full of hate and deception. Irene asked if I wanted to give it back to Mom. Well, not really, it would kill her. It’s too much and too heavy for an old lady. “So, you have been carrying this around for your Mom all these years?” Irene asked. Yes, it was my job, I guess, it was her that stuff she gave me. We went through all the questions. Do I want to be rid of it? How could we cut those hawsers? Where should we dispose of it? Who would I be without it, etc. etc? I couldn’t think of anyone I would want to carry this black ball around for me, so my conclusion was, and this took a bit of tapping to figure out, have my now dead baby brother, Bill, cut the ropes and haul it away somewhere to be hidden where no one else would ever find it. It was too ugly and painful. I wanted no one else to ever carry it. Billy showed up. He agreed to help, but what added comedy to this was he whips out a great big machete. Ok, goofy boy, don’t get carried away here and chop me to pieces with your silliness, I told him, find another 6” knife that will do the job without hacking everything up! He always was the comedian of the family. Guess he’s not changed much in death! For all of you newly introduced to EFT, who is wondering what in the world am I talking about, here are what is going on. This is the mechanism that the subconscious can use to clear the deep-seated life altering, life running beliefs that are buried somewhere within the soul in order for us to truly get healthy. Am I really seeing my brother Bill? No, but in my mind’s eye he was standing to my right, just waiting for me to tell him what to do. I know he was there. I could FEEL him standing there. As you learn to tap deeper and deeper into your stuff, you, too, will experience similar things to what I am describing. Remember, according to Dr. Bruce Lipton, your subconscious takes in 40 million bits of information per second, but your conscious mind only processes 40 bits of it. Where does the rest go – all 39,999, 960 bits? It’s all stored in your subconscious. That great big computer databank of a mind you have socks it away for you, sometimes protecting you from the negative memories, sometimes just placidly storing it all. What this means to you is every single thing that has ever happened to you, good, bad, or indifferent, is all stored in your bodymind, which consists of all your organs, muscles, skin, and connective tissue. Somewhere within your physical self, every negative memory is locked in there somewhere. Good memories aren’t the problem, but the negative ones surely are. They will probably eventually trigger some disease. They all need to go, wherever negative memories go in the cosmos. And this is exactly what I was doing this session, digging deep into my subconscious by tapping, dropping myself into alpha and theta brain wave states, so I could access where this deceptive black bowling ball of junk was stored. It was time to release it. I needed help doing it. Billy was willing. The process took a while, as my session lasted 90 minutes with Irene. I won’t go into all the tapping, but one by one I felt it was now ok for Billy to cut the hawsers. I even told him which ones to cut first, knowing that if he cut 1, 3, 5, and then one more, the black bowling ball would be cut loose. I instructed him; remember I’m still the bossy big sister, to hang onto the ball as he cut the last hawser because I didn’t want the damn thing dropping on my foot! He’s a good boy, listening well, doing what I asked him to do. I then told him to take the ball out somewhere in space and hide it forever where it would never be found by another person ever again. It was too heavy, too ugly, and too destructive for anyone to encounter in the future. I watched in my mind’s eye as he turned, and eventually walked out of sight, carrying my black emotion-packed bowling ball of deception away! I looked at the clock. My session was scheduled to end at high noon. It was exactly, on the dot, 12 noon. I’m always a bit amazed, as a practitioner, how a session begins and ends many times within the parameters of the time set for it to do so. That subconscious of ours is so very intelligent. As crazy as that session was, what happened afterwards was even crazier. I sat there in Irene’s chair, trying to get my bearings. I was physically exhausted. That is not unusual; our sessions are so intense I usually am just plain pooped. What was unusual was as I looked at the chair where Mom was “sitting”, witnessing this entire 90 minutes of tapping, I, for the first time in my life, felt a twinge of forgiveness for her. I’ve always wondered what forgiveness would feel like. I had no idea. No one could tell me. I’d know it when I felt it was all people would say. Well, I just felt it! It was amazing. Oh, I’ve forgiven Mom a thousand times in my life. I knew I had to. As a Christian, I’m commanded to do so; as a human I knew I had to forgive her, or the poison of it would kill me. What’s the saying – un-forgiveness is you drinking the poison yourself, hoping it will kill the other person? I knew eventually, if I said the words of forgiveness, I had to feel it. What a surprise this was! It happened for the first time. What a freeing feeling! As the forgiveness flooded me, albeit briefly, I said the words out loud to Mom – “Mom, I forgive you. I know you did the best you could with what you had to offer. I understand that. It’s ok”. When I got home later, after a 30 minute drive, I was really exhausted, both physically and emotionally. I eventually just sat down to rest a bit. It was then that I realized that everything in my body hurt, particularly the base of my neck, my mid-back, and my knees. Well, how appropriate! What parts of the body would hurt when carrying an exceptionally uncomfortable load for a very long period of time? Yes, neck, back, and knees. The thought came to me. I wonder how releasing those decades long held load would impact my posture. I have tapped on my posture, and all the incidents around it that came to mind, but nothing has changed. Time will tell on that. Later the exhaustion lifted as I consumed multiple glasses of water. By bedtime, I realized my heart had changed. Instead of its usual hard compacted consistency, and I used to consider myself “hard-hearted”, it now appeared to have a spongy or latticed look to it like maybe it could soak up or allow something good to grow on it! What an interesting metaphysical heart picture. But even more throughout the night I experienced some zinging in different parts of my body, particularly my legs. About a year ago, this electrical-like shooting sensation started after another intense tapping session with Irene. My first nursing impression was, “Oh, I’m having a stroke”. I didn’t have a stroke, nor do I plan to ever have a stroke, but I have since encountered the same sensations on multiple occasions. I know what these are now. It is the meridians clearing, or, as I like to explain it, batches of related cellular receptors all clearing at once. Parts of me are coming back to full life after years of being numb and near lifeless. As Irene tells me I’ve landed in a “new land”. I’m in transformational new territory. And I felt as if I would simply float off, like an astronaut would out in space if his tether was cut to the space shuttle, so Irene & I had to come up with something to “ground” me once Billy cut the last hawser. All I could think of was something of stone. That was too permanent. She hinted around awhile with some ideas until it struck me to use a pair of retractable, collapsible kids’ bike training wheels! I attached them to my feet, Billy cut the last hawser, and I am now free, roaming around like an explorer, excitedly, in a new place. New territory, new life, a transformation experience has just happened to me. I know I’m not quite down yet with my emotional junk, but that’s ok, I will enjoy this new chunk of life, knowing it continues to bring me longer and longer periods of peace between the “big ones”. I just have to persevere through all these memories and emotions to get to the land of never ending peace and joy that God has for me. I’m actually beginning to think it is possible. So, I will see you around the block, me and my metaphysical training wheels, as I explore this exciting life of freedom EFT has given me, something I have dreamed of and cried for over decades of my life. It’s coming into existence! Thank you, God, for giving me EFT! For more information, go to http://eftforchristians.com . Open EFT Letter to a Depressed Friend

As difficult as it could possibly be, try your best to tap for 15-20 or more minutes a day, tuning into whatever it is that the Holy Spirit brings to mind for you (I have literally tapped thousands of hours for my healing - it had to be a priority to me, or I was simply going to end up a physical wreck - I know where I was headed). If you can do so, whenever a feeling of one sort or another washes over you during the day (or night), if you can do so, stop right then and there and start tapping, calming yourself. Slow deep breaths of 4-5 seconds in, holding for 2 seconds, and breathing out for another 4-5 seconds does similar stuff by dropping us into that alpha/theta brain wave area where we tend to be a bit steadier. Its similar brain waves to those who meditate. EFT drops us into that same brain wave state, too. It's your way of telling the limbic system to quiet down. It understands that language! I have no idea how long this will take, but after you have done enough of this, and you will never know how much is enough until the feelings break up (which isn't really too helpful for you!), call me & I will teach you, if you so desire, the next steps in EFT. The manuals tell us to get specific on events. That's what I would show you - some shortcuts and ideas of how to clear all that out of your memories. Remember, EFT doesn't remove memories; EFT just pulls the emotion out of them, neutralizing them by calming down that limbic system where the stress trigger lives in the body - yours is working overtime! Anyway, tapping globally, as we have been doing, is ok when the pain is high, but, if you can do it, tapping on specific events will undermine the stress level much more quickly. By specific I mean, grab hold of a very detailed memory of your past. Pull it into your head with all its glory, and then tap out of that memory every single emotion involved in it. Just tap the emotion, if you want to say something - at each tapping point. No need to get fancy. Simply works. If EFT calms you in the moment, then it should calm you long term if enough is done. Try something else, if you want - say "I'm so happy" at each tapping point. Obviously, it isn't true, but sometimes it confuses the subconscious enough to switch neurons around. I would have gotten to that with you eventually. There is another technique that is part of Dr. Patricia Carrington's (former psychology faculty member @ Princeton University who has used EFT for 20 years) Choices Method where she alternates between the positive and negative tapping statements at each tapping point. "I'm so happy", or "I'm so depressed", or any variations of that, or "My life is wonderful", etc. There are a couple of reasons why this sometimes helps - my favorite answer is the technique so confuses the subconscious that it simply gives up the ghost because it, literally, doesn't know what the hell you want! Remember, the subconscious is literal, linear, & logical. By constantly telling it negatively, without tapping, how you feel, it just encodes that deeper into the cells because it thinks that is what you want. It's why "talk therapy" rarely works because there is no tapping going on, or some other release method used. It's also why clinical psychologists by the dozens are switching from talk therapy to EFT! Talking without tapping drives the emotion further into us. http://eftuniverse.com/component/content/article?id=9000 Anytime, you are on the phone or talking to anyone about how you feel, tap! Use those finger points I showed you, if you can't tap on the body or head points. This technique is called "Tap and Rant" or "Tap and Complain". We all do it, but make sure we tap while we "vent" (the old psychology term)! I tap on my finger points during the sermons in church. Brad asks if I'm upset. No, I'm simply tapping. Tapping, just to tap, is therapeutic (we could get into the quantum physics of what goes on when tapping, too). The "bodymind" understands what we are doing. It's like a hug to our own self. I tap all the time. Tapping when I'm happy or joyful, encodes that into my cells, too. I want God's joy encoded! Out with the old; in with the new! It took time, nearly 2 1/2 years for me, but I'm there, or nearly so! Some people do this in a matter of weeks Like I told you, there are dozens of different EFT techniques, and I mix and match them, along with different energy modalities. In other words, there are 100s of things that can be tried. I only showed you a couple. I did as I was led by Holy Spirit to do. Here is the EFTUniverse.com website with other "depression" cases listed. I haven't read them, except for the above one from Valerie Lis. http://eftuniverse.com/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=9313 Remember, too, with depression, one of the hardest things is to recognize that you might feel a bit better with EFT. Because the pain is so deeply embedded in those cells, and the cognitive pattern so set in what seems like cement, noticing an improvement is one of the issues with depression. Watch carefully please. EFT makes very, very subtle changes that you yourself may never notice, but Pastor or the girls might. It is very subtle in many cases. I warn clients of this...someone else may notice before you do! If they do, they are correct. I tell clients to see if they can beat their families in noticing their personal changes! Pay close attention to how you feel. The changes are most likely there; you just have to see them, and then allow God to build on them. Thank you for the privilege of tapping with you! Please let me know how you are doing. You are in my prayers and I have put you on a couple of permanent prayer lists in other states. There are prayer warriors out there on duty before the Throne of God 24/7! Christian Quantum Physics of EFT & Prayer

1 Timothy 4:4-5: For everything created by God is good, and nothing is to be rejected, if it is received with gratitude; for it is sanctified by means of the word of God and prayer. Philippians 4:6: Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.
Most Christians understand the concept of petitioning God in prayer, but the idea of “praying the answer”, is foreign to most Christians. We just keep asking and asking God for the desires of our heart, but few of us have the faith to simply ask, and then flip into praying with thanksgiving for the answer already given us by Him. Oh, we are doing as He instructs us when we petition the throne of God (Matthew 7:7: "Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you), but He has already heard you. In fact, He knew what you were going to ask for before you ever asked. He is omniscient, you know! Pray, and then give thanks for the answer that will manifest itself through God’s mercy.
Quantum physics tells us to take the asking to the next level. Let me explain why. As I have said on numerous occasions that explaining the quantum physics or neurochemistry or neuroscience behind EFT in a few paragraphs is extremely difficult! Let me see what I can with this subject of prayer and quantum physics.
Quantum physics teaches us that we can, and this is all God because this is how He created us, turn our thoughts into reality. I can hear your thoughts (questions) right now and yes, this is for real. God implanted in each of us a mechanism where what we think becomes our reality! Literally! Science has proven this fact. I love when science proves what God does, don’t you?
My premise here is this: If our thoughts are our reality, meaning that thinking something negative will cause the negative to happen, then why don’t we Christians use that physiology that God implanted in us to the full effect, thinking and praying the positive, making that our reality. First, we pray & petition God for what we want, like help passing an exam, or getting over the flu, or safety on an upcoming out of town trip, or Christian conversion for our lost sister, etc., then flip our prayer, while tapping, if you so choose, into one of thanksgiving to God for already answering the prayer. In other words, pray the answer!  Thank you, Jesus, for the A on my exam; thank you, Jesus, for curing me of the flu so I can go back to work; thank you, Jesus, for our upcoming safe trip; thank you, Jesus, for bringing Susie to You.
Now, if during the tapping and praying, some event or memory comes to mind around the prayer & thanksgiving, and it has an associated emotion to it, and then takes this one step further by tapping away the negative emotion, clearing any blockages to the prayer answer. In other words, dissociate any learned neurochemical blocks mentally from what God is going to give you & what you truly want in life.
Why do our thoughts become our reality?  Because the subconscious is literal, logical, & lineal, and it takes what we think & produces it in our being. If you think you will get cancer, I can nearly guarantee it will happen.  Your subconscious thinks that is what you truly want. How many times have you said, “so and so is a pain in my neck?” How often has a real pain in your neck showed up shortly thereafter the statement? You just manifested your reality by saying it!
How does this happen? Dr. Joe Dispenza calls it the “law of repetition & association”. Donald Hebbs said it best, “Neurons that fire together, wire together.” The feelings and emotions of life make up our present reality. Want your reality to change? Do you want to be that person God wants you to be? Then look at the emotions and feelings of the past, as you feel them today, and change them by tapping. Carrying around the same thoughts and habits day after day, and thinking something is going to change, is probably a pretty fruitless idea. What is the saying – “What’s the definition of insanity? Doing the same thing over and over, but thinking you will get a different result.” By thinking and acting the same day after day, hoping for some change, it tends not to happen. The neural connection need to be fixed for that change to happen.
Recently, a friend of mine told me this story. Her college age daughter called her on the phone saying, “Mom my pillow stinks, I’m going to get pink eye from it”. As always her Mom’s reply was, “Watch what you say.” The following morning the girl called to tell her Mom she indeed did have a reddened eye, probably pink eye. It was confirmed later in the day, necessitating the college kid missing an entire day of classes. Is that incredible? Yes, but it is reality. In the next week, watch carefully, and mindfully, exactly what you say.  Then notice, if what you said was negative, how it manifested itself within your life. Begin to change that behavior. EFT is a wonderful mechanism for that change. In a future video that I will put on Youtube, I will set up a tapping protocol for you to show you how to change some of these negative habits in your life that are manifesting themselves into reality, helping you to become the person God wants you to become.
God doesn’t call us to this. He calls us to abundance and health. Use this God directed tool of EFT to change those negative thoughts and behaviors to something more God honoring and healthy.

Curiously, as I read the big, long article I posted below, it hit me that the author put into words something I think the Holy Spirit has been whispering to me for the past 3 weeks. He whispers and I ponder for awhile, and then He clarifies, just as He always does to me through an article or a conversation. I'm very quiet during this contemplation period, not even articulating to Brad what I'm thinking, only because it is a stirring in my soul, and I finally wised up to know Who is speaking. I need to await His pleasure and conclusion of what He has to tell me. He just did it again! Wow! As I tap with clients, particularly the non-Christians ones, and specifically the ones who use the term "Universe" as their theological base, I've wondered how do I gently, but passionately bring in God as a refutation to their concept of "Universe" without being completely disrespectful and coming off, like so many Christians do, in an alienating manner. I need a God glorifying way to say He is in charge without coming off looking like a Bible thumper. I want to be a bridge between these crazy new agers and us Christians. I have the mechanism in my hand. Now, how do I say it kindly? In their language, but not compromising my own? I haven't figured out how to do that just yet, but this Matt guy's article says to me exactly what I have been thinking! We can use Christian EFT as that bridge, pointing the new agers to the King of the Universe, the real King! I believe that is why I'm so empathic about this going to the churches, and then coming back out of the churches. This is language these unbelievers understand. The Church can talk to them without compromising its own personal belief system! Anyway, I will continue to ponder the exact line I need to say. It will come. It will be a classic. It will be God's words to those I tap with; those He has chosen to hear these exact, perfect words of His. I just find it so curious how and what He uses to talk with us. Now that my soul is quiet; much of the overwhelming emotions released; the ceaseless chatter gone, I can actually listen. It is incredibly refreshing! http://mattstone.blogs.com/christian/2009/08/energy-healing-a-christian-theological-appraisal.html For more information, go to www.eftforchristians.com To schedule a free EFT consultation coaching session, email me at eftforchristians@gmail.com Always remember to take complete responsibility for your own health and well-being.

EFT and Magic Words

Often I’m asked by clients when I instruct them to tap for themselves at home about “what words do I use”? I’m hoping to settle this question here and now for you readers. While all these tapping protocols and Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) Youtube videos out there on the internet are nice, as they give a wonderful visual of how EFT is done, I’m not convinced they do a completely healthy service to the EFT world. Now, I can’t complain too loudly, or I will look like a hypocrite here because I, too, have Youtube videos available on the web. However, my concern is that many times the video producing practitioners goes on and on with fancy words and different phrases on each tapping point. It looks complicated and involved to the novice tapper. EFT isn’t that complicated. It really isn’t, nor does it need to be fancy to get excellent results. EFT works at the cellular level to eliminate negative emotions. Words aren’t the key here. Feeling the negative emotion is. That’s why it is called Emotional Freedom Techniques! Few practitioners use the setup phrases anymore. And I agree with them, if the client is really feeling whatever emotion is causing their problem. If a SUDS (subjective units of distress, emotional pain scale) is over a 3 or 4 on a scale of 0 to 10, with 0 being no pain and 10 being terrible, there is no need to do a setup, as the client is already in the emotional moment. Just begin tapping the points. A setup is needed if the client has an issue but isn’t feeling the issue. That is when they possibly could be reversed and they need the setup phrases done at the karate chop point. My point here is that EFT doesn’t need words to work. All that is needed is to tune into the emotion and really feel it. Magnify it. Intensify it. Just get into it, and then tap it away. Words are useful for the practitioner to understand where a client stands in the process. Sometimes clarification is necessary. Words are useful for that. Other times, like I do, my intuition, which is really the Holy Spirit, kicks in & I will say something I extrapolated from what the client says. Often the client will acknowledge that my words are exactly what they are thinking or feeling. It gets them back into feeling whatever emotion there were feeling. I want to keep them in that emotional moment to get all the bodymind clearing I can get for them. Intensifying the emotions tends to get a more thorough clearing for the client. It’s the vibration of the tapping that knocks the emotion loose, not the words. So, for all you novice tappers out there don’t get all hung up on the right words. Those words really don’t matter. Start tapping, tune into whatever it is you are feeling, intensify the feelings, if you can, and persevere until you completely clear out the problem. If you can make yourself cry about the problem, all the better, as crying is a sure fire sign you know exactly what you are feeling. Cry and tap. I’m pretty sure you will feel a whole lot better when you are done than you would if you simply sat down & had a good old fashioned cry without the tapping. Tapping extracts the emotion, neutralizing it, and it tends to do that on a permanent basis. Crying is only a temporary relief. Personally, I go for anything that improves my emotional lot long term. So, happy crying and happy tapping! Your subconscious thanks you for the relief, as does all your clogged up cells, all 100 trillion of them! Guilt from an Abortion 30 Years Ago Gone with Christian EFT

Recently, I had an EFT session request from an out of state relative with whom I’ve had a few email/phone exchanges about the subject. Annette had downloaded the EFTUniverse.com mini-manual & tapping site sheet & she had done a bit of tapping on her own on a few personal issues, such as a headache & anxiety with good success. What she wanted to discuss was bigger than she figured she could handle on her own. We made a noon appointment to do EFT over the phone. When she answered the phone, I made sure she had the tapping site sheet available, along with a class of water. I had texted her earlier in the morning to remind her to find the tapping paper. Once again, I made sure Annette understood that I would tell her where I wanted her to tap and how I needed her to repeat what I said. If she didn’t feel connected to my words to please change them in any manner she felt appropriate, as this was her session, not mine. I was simply guiding her. A word of explanation to the tapping community here – I’m a Christian EFT coach which means that if I have a Christian client, I will pray with the client before we begin a session, asking the Holy Spirit’s guidance. I will also use Christian-based tapping phrases. I have used this in multiple cases and it works just as well, if not better, than the standard EFT phrases. My clients connect with these phrases better, as do I. Annette indicated to me that she had a fairly high anxiety & stress level, pre-anticipatory grief over the soon to happen death of her father, who is quite ill. Her SUDS was a 7, on a scale of 0 - 10. The set-up: Even though I have all this stress because I know Dad is going to die soon, I know God loves me. Even though my anxiety level is through the roof, I know Jesus loves me. Even though I’m already worrying about how I’m going to handle all the hassles of the estate with my brothers and sisters after Dad passes, I know God loves me very much. TH: I can’t stand all this stress about Dad. EB: I’m nearly beside myself worrying about all the stuff I will have to handle. SE: I know the other kids are going to give me all kinds of grief about the house. BE: I can’t live here forever; the house is too big. UL: I won’t have anywhere to go when Dad dies. CH: I can’t imagine I will be able to handle all this. CB: All this work that is going to fall on me when Dad dies, so I try to keep him alive as long as possible. UA: DAD’S dying and I can deal with that, as he is old, it’s all the after stuff that is so hard to think about. We did a couple rounds of tapping around these issues with Annette changing a few words here & there to match what she was feeling. At this point I stopped her & had her drink some water, deep breathe, and tell me where she was with her SUDS & what she was now thinking. SUDS had come down to a 3 or 4, but a new aspect had arisen. “I talked to Jimmy about this, but I think I deserve all this hassle & I shouldn’t be complaining at all about it because I had that abortion in high school.” Annette went on and on for a good 15 minutes about this issue, so I let her talk, as I had time, but I told her to keep tapping while she “ranted”. By this time her SUDS went back up to a 6. We tapped: TH: I deserve all this hassle. EB: It’s all my own fault that I have to deal with this. SE: I know God has forgiven me, but I still feel guilty. UE: When I don’t feel guilty, I feel guilty because I don’t feel guilty, and I think I should be feeling guilty. UL: I worry about what other people are thinking. They think I should have more remorse than I’m showing. CH: How can I face that child in heaven? I killed that baby. CB: I deserve what I get taking care of Dad. I caused it all. UA: This is my punishment for what I did. Someone has to make up for killing that baby. We stopped after 2 rounds, reevaluated, drank some water, and tested. The SUDS was down to a 2. Annette brought out another aspect that popped up. “I have no self control with food. I have all these weight issues which are punishment, too, for what I did”. Hesitantly, she went on about lack of interest in sexual matters and my body is “tired and not holding up well”. She was frustrated with herself, “doctors, insurance, and hospitals”. She discussed for a short time the Catholic Church teachings on sexuality now that the subject was opened up. Her SUDS went back up to a 10. No setup done again. We went right back to tapping. TH: I’m disgusted with myself. EB: I have no self-control. I just keep stuffing food in my mouth. SE: I’ve gained all this weight & I can’t keep up in life. UE: I’ve lost all interest in sex and Jimmy just keeps going. UL: I’m just so tired keeping up with Dad and the kids. CH: I’m frustrated with myself that I can’t seem to be able to do this job. CB: I’m tired of all the doctors, insurance and hospitals. They wear me out, too. UA: I’m so very disgusted with myself, but I know God still loves me. After 3 rounds with the above reminder phrases, we again stopped to check where she was. Some deep breaths, a drink of water, and a short break told me she was still at a 7. Because this was a phone session and I was listening extremely intently to any changes in her voice, I knew she was starting to break down, as her voice was cracking. I knew she was near to tears. Asking how she was, Annette told me this all brought back an incident from when she was aged 12. I had at one of the previous breaks quickly explained to her that EFT was particularly effective, if one could link the present emotion to a childhood event. Annette had just come up with a childhood event. I told her to keep tapping while she told me this story: While playing around an old building with some friends, playing hide & seek, a man ran up to her and grabbed her across the chest on “my boobs”, then ran off. None of her friends witnessed it, but she told them about it when they returned. Her girlfriends asked why she hadn’t screamed. “I tried, but nothing came out”, was her answer. Of course, none of them believed her, so one of her friends asked, “Did you enjoy it?” Her answer was an emphatic “no”, but she had realized she had a bit of sexual arousal around the event, so in set the guilt & conflict over not being able to scream and the “nice” feelings. “I was a coward for not standing up for myself. I was too weak to scream. I was too weak to say no to the abortion. I was too scared to make a decision about anything. And now I can’t make any decisions about much of anything either,” all came streaming out without a break. I quickly asked for a SUDS which I suspected was pretty high because the tears were really beginning to flow. Again, no set-up, as she was definitely in the moment & her SUDS was an 8 & she was in tune with her intense feelings. I asked if she had Kleenex. She did. I could hear her blowing her nose…a lot! TH: I’m a coward. EB: I don’t know how to stand up for myself. SE: I was too weak to say no to the abortion. UE: I’m too scared to make any decisions about anything. UL: I tried to scream. Nothing came out. CH: I’m such a coward. CB: I’m weak. UA: I don’t know how to stand up for myself. Crying had slowed a bit, so I continued. TH: I was alone when that man came. EB: I told my girlfriends what had happened. SE: They asked why I didn’t scream. UE: I did scream, but nothing came out of my mouth UL: He grabbed my boobs. CH: I was so surprised and embarrassed. CB: Did you enjoy it? UA: Did you enjoy it? Crying began again, so I continued. I knew I was hitting a really sore spot with Annette and I wanted to disarm it quickly and thoroughly. TH: Did you enjoy it? EB: I couldn’t scream. SE: He grabbed my boobs. UE: Did you enjoy it? UL: No one believed me. He ran off. CH: I feel guilty because it aroused me. CB: I feel that guilt, but I know God has forgiven me. UA: God forgave me, as I was only 12 and it wasn’t my fault. I didn’t ask for it. Crying slowed again, but I did another round on the hand points on the last 4 phrases as above to make sure the issue was gone. We reevaluated again, along with getting another glass of water for both of us, and taking some deep breaths. Annette said she felt much better and had a SUDS of 2. Another aspect change showed up, as Annette’s voice softened and I knew she was thinking about something else now. “That progression of growing up with so much immorality. All that feminity. I allowed guys to walk all over me. I was so promiscuous. I never told Jimmy too much of it because I feared it would damage our relationship. He didn’t want to know he said. I was taught right and wrong. I feel so guilty. I remember feeling like trash. I was always heavy and bigger than my older sisters, but everyone told me I wasn’t heavy, I was just big boned. I was told I looked like Dad, and Dad always had weight issues until recently, so I figured I would be fat, too”. “What am I going to say to that baby when we meet in heaven?” I assured her that the baby is in heaven and I suspect the baby will run to her, wrapping her arms around Annette, saying, “Hi, Mom!”. I asked Annette if she had confessed her sin to Jesus. “A hundred times, but I still feel so guilty”, she answered. I had her tapping while she talked. Usually, I would ask a client where they physically felt all these issues, but Annette had no problems articulating what she was feeling, nor did she have any problems getting into the moment of the issues. She was such an easy client to work with even though this was all being done over the phone! She was once again beginning to cry. I asked her to give me 2 different SUD levels – one on the “immorality” and another on the weight issue. Both were 10s. I decided to do one at a time, rather than confuse the issues. This would enable me to know where the SUDS level was on 2 different issues, and make sure I disarmed both of them adequately. We began again without a setup, as she was sniffling quite a bit, with me tapping using her own words: TH: All that growing up. EB: So much immorality. SE: I allowed guys to walk all over me. UE: I never told Jimmy much of this. UL: I felt like trash. CH: I’m ashamed of myself. CB: I went to all those clubs and drank like a fish night after night. UA: All this guilt over that behavior. Next round continued as I could hear the crying subsiding, but not completely: TH: All this immorality. EB: I didn’t feel too feminine, so I let the men walk all over me. SE: Those men used me & I let them. UE: I knew right from wrong. I was taught better than this. UL: I feel so guilty. CH: If I tell Jimmy, it might damage my marriage. CB: I felt like trash. UA: I still feel like trash. Again, the crying was nearly finished, so I went one more round: TH: I feel like trash & I killed that baby, but I know God loves me. EB: I feel so ashamed, but I know Jesus died on the Cross for me & this shame. SE: I feel so guilty because I killed my baby, but I know Jesus loves me very much. UE: I let men use me because I wouldn’t stand up for myself, like I didn’t stand up for myself when I was 12. UL: I think I can let myself forgive me because God loves me & forgives me. CH: I think I can forgive myself because Jesus forgives me. CB: I do forgive myself. UA: I do forgive myself because Jesus has forgiven me & has tossed those sins as far as the east is from the west. Annette was down to a 2 on the sexual immorality guilt & shame and she wanted to leave just a little to remind her of how she had behaved in her younger years & to keep her from never taking for granted all the forgiveness God and other people have given her for these issues. That was her choice and I honored that, as I know that at times that the SUDS of 2 might well drop lower as the calm & peace of the EFT effects set in. We next tackled the 10 SUDS issue of weight: TH: I was bigger than my older sisters by the time I was 8. EB: I’m not heavy, I’m big-boned everyone told me. SE: I’m so ashamed of my size. UE: I look like Dad & he always had weight issues. UL: I figured I would always be fat like Dad since I looked like him. CH: I was bigger than Sis and that made me feel fat. CB: I think I can forgive myself for my weight. UA: I know I can forgive myself for my weight. We did a 2nd round on this with the second round emphasizing the forgiveness part a bit more and this weight issue dropped like a rock to a big fat 0! Pun intended! Annette was elated on how wonderfully relieved she felt and wanted to leave the session right there. Her following comment emphasis revolved around the Christian aspect of forgiveness and “how much God does love me”, which she says, “I needed to hear, so thank you.” I gave her instructions to keep tapping daily, but not to neglect her prayers, confessing her sins daily, particularly making sure she went over her day with the kids mentally and tapping away any problems or issues, so they didn’t build up into some larger emotional issue. She is to call me to set up another appointment when she is ready, or email me if she gets stuck, allowing me to help her frame out the wording, etc. It was a classic EFT session, Christian style. I checked on her via email the next day and Annette was thrilled because “I feel so calm today and I don’t know why!” I giggled and told her, it is the EFT. That’s the way it works! 8/12/13 Another text arrived from Annette thanking me again for taking time to tap with her. “I’ve never had this much peace in my life. Many of my fears and anxieties are gone. I’ve lived with those for years. God is so good. I’m grateful He sent me to you. I’m sorry Bill died, but what a benefit to me that he did. I reconnected with you.” For more information, go to www.eftforchristians.com To schedule a free 15 minute EFT consultation session, email me at eftforchristians@gmail.com Always remember to take complete responsibility for your own health and well-being. EFT & Trauma

Trauma in our lives, and I’m talking about the big “T” traumas, like physical abuse, war memories, rape, sexual abuse, etc. are huge. Anyone carrying them around knows exactly what I am talking about. These issues shape every facet and minute of our lives. They override and overwhelm every thought process we have. They cloud our thinking about who we are in Christ.
Often the memories shape our personality. It’s the physiology God put into us that makes this all so. He didn’t mean it as destructive, but as a protective mechanism.
The problem with the subconscious, if it is really a “problem” is that its main function is survival. Anything it perceives as a life threat, it will bury, hide, disguise or do anything it needs to do to protect us.  And I’m talking “us” here, because I have firsthand experience on this subject. Sadly, for me, I know it intimately, and the deep burial of the memories nearly killed me. God using EFT saved my life.
So, let me continue, explaining why traumas get buried so deeply into the subconscious, where no one or nothing, including the conscious mind, can access them. Traumas are overwhelming, trapping us in the freeze part of the limbic system’s “fight, flight or freeze” mechanism. During the trauma, the person feels helpless, hopeless, without any resources. If it happens to a child, it is even worse, because up to the age of about 7 (Remember, all you Catholics, and probably other denominations, how the Church used age 7 as the “age of reason” when the sacraments of Penance and Holy Communion were permitted?), children function purely in delta, theta, and alpha brain waves, sucking up information, with absolutely no processing ability whatsoever. They are building a lifetime of neural pathways. Repetition is what builds those. That is why 2 or 3 year olds repetitively ask the same question over and over and over again. They don’t do it to irritate the adults in their lives; they do it because that is precisely the way their brains work. Kids have no cognitive neural pathways when they are born. They are a clean slate. Every event, good or bad, that happens to them begins that neural learning, all cognitive, creating a lifetime of neural connections & memories. In order to make those learned neural bundle stick, kids must ask the same question time and again to make the bundle thick and heavy duty. Our thoughts will ascend a thickened neural pathway much quicker than a lesser used one.
It is the same process that is involved in habit changing. We always hear that it takes 3 weeks to change a habit. That’s about right based on the neurology involved. You decide you want to stop eating toast for breakfast and eat fruit instead. You’ve eaten toast your entire life, so what does your taste buds want when your feet hit the floor in the morning? Yes, toast, because it is a comfortable, known habit. You’ve done it forever, it seems. In order to change that habit, you need to become mindful that you want the toast habit changed, and keep it in your mind for a couple of days. The subconscious will want you to revert back to the old toast habit, and you might even slip up a day or so and have your toast half eaten by the time you remember you had chosen to switch to fruit. Don’t fret, get up the following morning & eat your fruit. After about 3 weeks of fruit eating, you will, in the future, probably reach for fruit without thinking. Why? Because you simply, by choice, changed that particular, mundane as it might seem, neural pathway to another idea. After about 3 weeks, the body, which never wastes a single component part in the brain, disassembles the toast pathway and puts those component parts elsewhere where repair is needed.
Young children are the same way. In order to remember that the color blue is the color blue, the concept must be repeated a 100 times, or what feels like to an adult a million times. We, as adults, tell kids to quit asking so many questions. Don’t bother telling them that – they will just continue to ask the same thing over and over. Kids have to – it’s the way God programmed them to learn and to build up the neural bundles they need to function in life.
But, back to traumas, the concept here is similar. At the time of the trauma, the event is fixed in our memories; much of the details in our subconscious, where we cannot access it, the things we tell ourselves around that memory are what begins the problems. We aren’t good enough, it was all our fault, men are scary, Mom doesn’t care, red cars crash, public speaking is uncomfortable, etc.
EFT goes in & dismantles all those encoded details that are getting into our way, causing us anxiety or fear, stalling us out in life. Once 2 or 3 or 4 aspects (details) around an event are disabled, the event becomes a non-issue, allowing us once again to move forward in life, to that abundant life that God has called us to live.
It’s all in the God created physiology. God made us this way, so why not use what He gave us to improve our relationship with Him & others.
Are you stalled, or are some emotions getting in your way of your abundant life in Christ? If so, email me. I believe EFT can help!

Why Should Christians Use Emotional Freedom Techniques

Why should Christians tap?  Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT) is the great equalizer. It levels out all of our emotions, leaving us on a straighter path, less up & downs during life’s issues.

Prayer and EFT, all covered under the umbrella of the Holy Spirit, are a wonderful combination. He's like the great Advisor. He reveals all, if we are open to allow Him to do so. He gives us guts to go proclaim God's Word to the world. We all know the story of how the Apostles couldn't shut up after Pentecost. But, He also gives us the guts to look inside ourselves, rooting out those things that are not of God.  Those things which distract us, keeping us a prisoner inside ourselves, stuff that is not useful to Him for building the Kingdom, all the things that distract from the Great Commission.

As you all continue EFT tapping, I believe you will find God will clear out your mind's garbage, all those things which make us fearful, distressed and anxious, feel unworthy or unloved, and we all have them, everyone their own version, you will find yourself in a more prayerful, grateful mode. It is like being more in the presence of Jesus all the time. You will actually feel God! God hasn't changed, but you have!  He has always been right beside you, but you & I were living with a toxic emotional cloud around us. We were buried in our own distress, and satan likes it when we are just that way. It keeps us from truly feeling. We walk around numb, doing what we need to do, but never stopping to feel life around us. I want to know God, but I also want to feel God.  I want to feel Him all around me, in everything I do. I can’t feel God when my life is full of emotional hang ups. My anger, fear, disappointment, disgust, etc. gets in the way. I can’t think – it all distracts me. EFT is a fantastic, gentle way to move those feelings and events aside, out of our way in our walk with our Savior. We are told we sadden Him with our sins. Take the time while tapping to confess those sins that you know in your heart hurts Him. He promises to cast them as far as the east is from the west (Psalm 103:12: As far as the east is from the west, so far has He removed our transgressions from us). Why not tap, confess, & pray at the same time?  Once you have confessed the sin to Him, continue tapping until all vestiges of remorse or guilt are gone.  He remembers your sin no more, so why should you remember it?

EFT re-sensitizes you to hear the Holy Spirit’s voice clearly. All the numbness in life makes it extremely difficult to hear Him. It is an odd mechanism He implanted in us. As we tap and pray, our brain waves drop down into the alpha and theta areas, out of that busy, rattling, noisy beta state. Those lower brain waves are meditation areas where the great Christian mystics went when they wanted to commune with God. Maybe even Jesus’s brain dropped into those brain states when He talked to His Father.

EFT also quiets the chatter, the negative self-talk, we all use on ourselves. I had a ton of it going on nearly constantly. It is particularly prevalent in those who come from an abusive background. A smart lady once told me that when the abusers stop abusing us, or we are out of their reach, we continue to abuse ourselves in the exact same way they did. We learned the pattern from them. We tell ourselves we are no good, or stupid, or ugly, or worthless. Whatever your poison is, you just keep drinking it from the well of your subconscious. With EFT; however, that negative yapping stops once you have cleaned out the subconscious mind, reprogramming it and neutralizing it.

The result is peace. Oh, do I like peace! Taking a walk now is a pleasant experience. My mind is not racing, re-running all those old movies I once played over and over again, telling myself what a bum I was. And that is all the internal chatter is – old movies. Remember, the adage I used in an earlier blog?  The one that goes something like this: To the conscious mind, a memory is only a memory, but to the subconscious mind it is a current event. I wish I knew who said it, but, sadly, I don’t. I’d like to give them proper credit. Until that current event is dismissed and unplugged, it will just keep playing. And it will just keep causing you emotional and possibly physical grief. Undo it!  Apply the ointment of EFT to it. Cut the cord; eliminate the self-deprecating chatter that is unsettling everything in your life.

Remember Psalm 46:10 “Be still and know that I am God”.  Isaiah 14:7 says, “All the lands are at rest and at peace; they break into singing”.  Want to know that peace, email me for a free coaching EFT session & let me teach you how to break into singing for God?  Let me teach you how God implanted in you a mechanism to stop the chatter in your mind that is bringing you down. God is waiting for you.

EFT and Energy Techniques

I had a crazy thing happen yesterday. It was my day to go to a personal EFT session with Irene Baum, EFT-INT, on north side of Milwaukee. Last week, Irene & I pulled out some real emotional dirt for me around my baby sister’s death back in 1961, when I was 8 years old. We cleared a lot of it, but I knew it wasn’t done, so I made another appointment with Irene for yesterday. Last week, a day after the appointment, I finally tapped, asking my subconscious to please hang onto the junk for another 4 days. It has done it for me for 52 years, I just needed 4 more days over the 4th of July holiday weekend, and it could cut loose at 1 P.M. on the Tuesday thereafter. I’d be at Irene’s for this appointment and we would deal with the emotional pain/issues then. The subconscious complied until early afternoon on the following Monday. I wondered if I miscalculated and should have told it “5 days”! The subconscious is very literal, you know. It does exactly what it is told to do, right down to the minute sometimes, I think. Monday afternoon hit and I could feel something building, once again, in my chest. I was getting crabby and irritable. This is how I feel when something is trying to escape from my memories. A couple nights before, for some unknown reason, I felt so itchy all over, and suddenly the words came to me, “Something is itching to get out!” Seriously? Monday, I knew it was really “itching” to escape.

Early Tuesday morning I awoke & cried my eyes red for probably 30 to 60 minutes, eventually falling back to sleep. By mid-morning Tuesday I couldn't walk or talk straight. I’m never like this. My brain was foggy. I couldn’t figure out where my feet were, nor could I string 7 words together without stopping, like an aphasic person, to think about what the topic was I was commenting on. I was a mess, and I would have had Brad take me to the appointment because I wasn’t sure I could drive decently either, except I broke the toilet earlier and he had to wait for the plumber! I’d had better days! I had brought along a picture to Irene’s of my now dead sister from 1961, showing the 2 of us sitting on Grandma’s sofa. Those haunting eyes of Karen’s are what was getting to me emotionally. Here was my little terminally ill sister at 10 months. I was beside her, but my eyes looked as though I wasn’t present whatsoever. I was off somewhere in la-la land. That was problematic to me, as it simply showed I had already checked out of life by the time I was the age of 8.

I need not tell of everything Irene and I tapped on, or how many tears I cried, but the emotional pain manifested itself in a stabbing pain in my left temple area. Then it was a knife slicing through the back of my head into that same temple, followed by some variations thereof, but I knew what it was. It was Dad back-handing me at the supper table the time he knocked me off my chair and I hit the wall. I know it was that side of my head. It was closest to him. Irene and I tapped everything on the planet out of that memory. We thoroughly scoured it to include plenty of shame and humiliation, anger and sadness, and several other emotions. At the end of the tapping, the pain had changed and I realized it was a hollow pain, like a phantom pain that amputees get, a pain where a memory had been. A deep wound that was now empty. It was a very odd feeling. Something I had never experienced before now.

Then I realized driving home that the left temple would signify what this website showed me: http://www.nlp-practitioners.com/interactive/nlp-eye-access-cues-game.php#theFace . A friend had just emailed me this site a few days before my tapping session. The left temporal area is where visual memories are stored, according to NLP. Oh, my, that awful memory and all of its accompanying emotions of humiliation and shame of being smacked off my chair in front of everyone had been held in that field ever since. My subconscious once again had been so literal.

Not only was I clouted on the left side of the head that evening long ago, it was the same approximate area where the subconscious held those types of old visual memories. About an hour later the pain just dissipated, as I figured it would do. The memory was neutralized, and the accompanying pain just faded away. This all brought me back to an EFT class I once attended that was taught by Dawson Church. I think it was a Level 3 class, if I’m not mistaken. I remember him, when discussing the use of the Gamut 9, talking about watching the client carefully when circling with the eyes, once in each direction, because, if the practitioner watches carefully, they may detect a spot where the client simply misses in that circling. When that happens, it tends to be the spot where the memory is held, and the practitioner should just go over that spot again and again until the client no longer skips over it with the eye roll. On occasion, as I would once in a while use the Gamut 9 on myself, when I couldn’t get an emotion to totally clear, I thought I caught myself skipping the 2 o’clock and the 10 o’clock positions, or simply glossing over them.

Looking back at yesterday, I suspect that was probably true. Also in Donna Eden Energy Medicine book (2008), she mentions on pages 347-350 about using eye exercises to release trauma. Her exercises are a wee bit different than the Gamut 9, but I don’t doubt any less effective. Once again, I find all of this Energy Psychology/Energy Medicine knowledge so absolutely interesting. Each different modality builds or supplements the other, having a little bit of a different twist here and there, but all of it effective and healing in its own right. Dawson Church is doing a Whole Energy Lifestyle (WEL) workshop, Aug 31 & Sep 1, 2013, in Kansas City. Maybe he is covering topics like the ones I mentioned above. I don’t know, but, if he is, I want to know more about them! See this website: http://www.regonline.com/Register/Checkin.aspx?EventID=1239752 .

Wow, are we privileged to be living in this spectacular time when all of these techniques are coming into full bloom? I stand amazed! And I am grateful to God for showing me the way to use them for healing of both myself and others. I find it all quite humbling!
