Is EFT Tapping in the Bible?
Sometimes I have people ask me, "Is EFT in the Bible?"
Well, of course, it isn't, nor is our automobile (wonder what Jesus would have ridden in on Palm Sunday instead of His donkey???!!), or airplane or refrigerator and washing machine, and we still use those freely.
What is IN the Bible is lots of humans with lots of negative emotions that caused all kinds of societal fallout, as it does today.
We are human, we have emotional turmoil, but it doesn't HAVE to rule us.
Once again, God has provided everything we need, including a path out of emotional pain. The EFT tapping tool sits waiting for us to grab it and use it!

Trauma and Memory Holes
Trauma sends our hippocampus (mind's historian that keeps track of events and time) off-line. The trauma is so hurtful the mind simply shuts it down!
Trauma also shrinks the hippocampus up to 25-30%, particularly when one has post-traumatic symptoms, so it makes sense that many of us have big memory holes!
The hippocampus comes on-line about age 2-3, if I remember correctly, but our amygdala (alarm center) is present in utero; therefore, we have alarms ringing in our mind before we have processes to figure out what is going on.
It amazes me how much tapping we practitioners do on VERY early memories, some of them we swear happened before we were born, and as a practitioner, we just go with whatever the client brings to the tapping table.
Sadly, science clearly shows us that we carry around so much epigenetic trauma from our ancestors! It's no wonder some of us are so burdened down with emotional stuff!
Anyone have a tapping story to share around any really, really early memories? We'd love to hear them!

Tapping Example from a Client Story! God is so Good!
With permission I recount this client (Jennie) story:
EFT Tapping is such a versatile tool. Here is a practical use of it!
Jennie was having anxiety and some fear around this her upcoming colonoscopy appointment.
And so we tapped on all the different aspects (details) that were bothering her including:
1). Fear of what the doctor might find
2). Anxiety about the procedure itself, including the sedation
3). Anxiety about the awful prep including the diet, as the allowable pre-test foods are things Jennie doesn't usually eat!
4). Fear of catching COVID at the clinic
5). Inconvenience of needing to go to clinic 2 days early to get a COVID test
6). Anxiety about previous prep reactions - feeling horribly cold, shaking, and generally feeling miserable
7). Anxiety about trying to remember to take some car seat protective covering in case of an accident.
8). Fear about getting an IV pre-op, reactions to the anesthetic, and whatever else we tapped about!
PRAISE REPORT
Wonderfully, the following morning I receive a phone call! Jennie is now actually excited to get this colonoscopy done and over. Yes, read that! Excited!
Her reframe (changing of our mind) is she is going to ENJOY the 5 day prep! After looking at the dietary list, she realized she would buy and eat foods she loves but rarely eats because they don't fit into her lifestyle right now. She planned to TREAT herself to something special!
Jennie wrote out her menus and created her grocery list. She also wrote out a time line of what had to be done when in order to eliminate re-reading the pages and pages of instructions. Nothing would be missed or mixed up now!
==========================================
This is EXACTLY what EFT tapping often does for us!
As we tap God "reframes" and changes our mind about thing to come and things that have happened in the past, so that we can settle down and enjoy His presence right here right now in a state of grace without worry or preoccupation.
Tapping does so much more than just this, but if we just used it for issues of today, what a wonderful gift from our Lord!
What have you recently tapped about that God gave you an exciting gift as He switched up your emotions? Leave me a message, so I can rejoice with you!
God bless your tapping journey! Join us on Facebook for more discussion opportunities!

Brain Signals & EFT
"The signals from our brains are communicated constantly via the matrix of energy conduction within our bodies. Every thought you think is echoing through your connective tissue communication system, turning genes on and off, producing either stress responses or healing responses."
Genie in Your Genes, Dawson Church, page 159
Our thoughts give us the ability to turn our disease genes on and off. Negative hurtful memories and thoughts turn the genes on; positive, peaceful thoughts turn genes off.
Isn't it wonderful God implanted in us this healing ability?
Tapping is a wonderful tool to assist you to neutralize and change abusive, hurtful, and damaging memories.

"Resistance" to Tapping: What is That All About?
Emotional healing is personal to each of us.
How we do life is all based on what we learned as youngsters. If our family understood emotions, listened to each other express them, and reacted in an appropriate way, we often live our adult lives in a more comfortable emotional way.
When a child has seen much emotional abuse, learning to express oneself as an adult is often more difficult. It is a learned behavior.
There are times when we wish or think we are ready to heal, but doing so just plain doesn't come easily.
Why?
The youngster inside us doesn't feel it is safe to confront or access earlier feelings now because it wasn't safe to do so back in childhood. Our feelings today directly reflect how we felt decades ago.
Tapping is all about feeling safe.
Sometimes during talk therapy, and I know this from personal experience, discussing how we feel now about something decades ago often brings a torrent of tears, anger, and sadness. It just plain feels safer NOT to discuss any of this. Leaving it buried deep within our psyche seems to be a more prudent course of action, however, doing that usually doesn't bring healing.
When a client doesn't seem ready to change, we call this "resistance" in the EFT trade. Sometimes it sounds like we are blaming the client for not wanting to get emotionally better.
In reality most of the time it has to do with safety and feeling ok to discuss, tap on, and let go of our old emotional baggage that just isn't allowing us to move forward as our Lord would have us do.
It isn't satan holding us back, it is our own stored stuff. And it may not be our fault we aren't ready to heal now. It is our responsibility to try to work on it though, as emotional healing usually brings us closer to our Lord.
EFT is one of the best techniques and the closest thing to a safety net that is known today. When we access a memory that makes us uncomfortable, tapping most often will settle down the feelings that come up around it. A few tapping rounds usually does the trick.
Don't beat yourself up if there are memories you aren't quite ready to tackle alone with tapping yet. You can also email me to obtain a referral to a Christian EFT Practitioner who can walk beside you as you do tap on these memories.

Just Tap!
Awhile ago some long time EFT practitioner accused me of tapping too much.
I took that to heart....for a short while, wondering if there was something wrong with just tapping to tap.
Now, I'm an indefatigable tapper, as are many other Christians I know!
Why? If, as the research now shows, an hour of tapping just to tap lowers cortisol levels 24% at least, why not tap?
All of us could use lower cortisol levels! We know high cortisol is NOT a good thing. It hardens our arteries, wears out our heart, causes tons of diseases such as diabetes and cancer.
Tapping isn't just lowering cortisol though. It also lowers many of the other chemicals in our bodies that contribute to these same above problems.
I tap when I pray, I tap when I do my devotions, I tap in church, I tap while I drive, I tap while I watch TV or a movie, I tap while I walk. I just tap.
God instilled in us an amazing healing capacity, so why not use it? If God put that mechanism in there, He must have done so to help us.
Join me! Tap!

Outcomes
EFT is an amazing tool to allow us to stop carrying emotional loads that we need to simply let go and let God handle.
Often we are too vested in other peoples' outcomes when those outcomes aren't up to us.
Tapping helps us divest ourselves of holding ourselves responsible for other peoples' actions, thoughts and habitual behaviors.
Let God handle it. Tap!

God Heals in Different Ways
God heals in different ways.
We humans sometimes want Him to do things differently, but He knows us as a complete being. God created us in an integrated manner - body, soul, mind, and spirit.
Quite often as I do teaching and ministering with EFT, I hear from Christians that they have gone to the altar for prayer very often, but still the emotional pain persists. Frustration has now set in and sometimes their faith begins to waver.
I'm all about prayer, and I highly encourage it, especially when coupled with tapping.
But as we ponder what tapping & prayer is on a spiritual level, let's consider a thought:
What if a pastor feels illness is only a spiritual problem, and he tells his congregants to have more faith, worship more, pray more, etc? Illnesses can definitely have a spiritual component. Scripture is full of examples.
But what IF the congregant's issue is more emotional? What IF that person being counseled had parents that divorced young, or he witnessed his brother killed, or she was abused at a young age, or the mother had a mental illness?
Asking someone with an emotionally charged childhood to pray more and have more faith frankly isn't always helpful. The science of how their brain is wired sometimes precludes them from doing those exact spiritual exercises.
While prayer, worship & faith help us cope, there most likely is more going on underneath emotionally for the parishioner. This is where EFT, in addition to all of the above things mentioned, comes in extremely handy!
The emotional piece is affecting the physical piece that affects the spiritual piece that ends up making us a big life mess! It's all intertwined.
For EFT, there's something about the actual tapping physically that often integrates it all. Our physical body cellular-ly holds the emotions. Too many negative emotions makes us sick. When we feel physically bad, it affects our spiritual well being & our emotional composure.
Tapping often relieves the emotional turmoil which heals us physically whereby we give glory to our God for the healing which then brings us spiritually closer to Him in relationship.
We see our God as a God of unity - all His models show unity. Church, family, health, etc.
Tapping is a tool to help us get there on so very many levels.
It truly is an amazing God created tool for healing!

Repentance & Tapping
Repentance is tied tightly into healing. Acts 28:27 where Apostle Paul repeated Isaiah 6:9-10. is one example of where this is stated.
This is one of the difference between Christian EFT and regular tapping. God rains on the just and the unjust, but because of Jesus and our chance to repent before Him of what we do to others which offends Him, we get a complete healing now and in eternity.
Repentance means "changing our minds" and that often is exactly what we do when tapping. We think one way, usually negatively, until we tap & God changes our mind. Some of that changing is forgiving those who have offended and hurt us.

EFT and Worry - Philippians 4
Philippians 4:6 reads, “in
everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to
God”. All our fears,
anxieties, and worry are to be placed into His loving arms. It is His to carry.
But what happens when the
fear, worry, or anxiety continues to rear its ugly head? Is God not answering our prayers? I don’t believe that to be the case at
all. God created us with a specific physiology. He knows what He created and
how we function within our bodies.
God’s physiology goes
something like this: We
learn worry early in our lifetime. Oh, it might be something that today we
would find inconsequential, like not being picked for a kickball team, or not
understanding the math in an upcoming big test. Worry and anxiety set in. The
cognitive learning process instilled in our mind has just begun. Over the following decades, other
problems arise that reinforce all that worry and fear and anxiety. Each time,
it seems we worry more and more, or the worry is more deep set. Finally, by
middle age, we find ourselves literally worrying about nearly every single
thing in our lives. We can tell ourselves a million times that we have nothing
to worry about – God has it all under control, but, for some reason, that never
really reassures us, and we continue to worry. Eventually, the guilt about worrying
begins to set in, adding to the angst. We know in our heart it is wrong, and we
pray diligently to be delivered from it.
We all know God can do
whatever He finds necessary. Sometimes, He simply rescues us from our
deep-seated worry, setting us free. Other times, it continues, like St. Paul’s
thorn, leaving us overburdened and sick. God, at other times, brings alongside
us something else to assist us, and answering our prayers in other ways.
Emotional Freedom
Techniques (EFT) is another of those answers to prayer. While He allows worry,
fear, and anxiety to be part of our human experience, one started in response
to original sin our first parents committed in the Garden of Eden, He also
instilled in us a mechanism to relieve just those emotions.
EFT, or tapping, is a physiology
process where by these fore mentioned emotions can be permanently dismantled.
How? By allowing the subconscious to bring to the surface those early memories
where the worry first began, and tapping away the emotions attached to those
events.
The tapping sets up a
vibration that interferes with the neurochemical reaction at the cellular
receptor level, breaking the cognitive learning pattern of childhood. It re-regulates the amygdala, the alarm
center of our brain, telling it we are safe. God is handling our issues. It’s
how God created us when He breathed breath into Adam’s nostrils on the sixth
day of creation.
Free yourself of those
emotions of anxiety, fear, and worry through EFT, opening you up to an awakened
spiritual experience through God’s mighty grace. Allow God to instill into you the
peace of God that passes all understanding by using this EFT mechanism God
implanted in you at birth.
If any of these emotions or
any other overwhelming emotion is running your life, messing up your prayer
life and spiritual walk, email me. It would be my Christian privilege to teach
you how EFT can change your spiritual life, as you dismantle the crippling
effects of those early leaned memory patterns. Or attend one of my
EFT classes in Milwaukee.
Always remember to take
complete responsibility for your own health and well-being. EFT is not a
substitute for medical care.
God bless your walk with
Him!

Christian Disbelief and EFT
Recently I had this question pop up on
one of my author’s boards: “How do you deal with Christians who are resistant
to EFT? I am not a Christian, but I have met people who seem afraid to take
responsibility for their own wellbeing and development. How do you address
this?”
I would love to answer this question!
Often Christians are fearful, like
everyone else, of what they don’t know or don’t understand. We in the West are
conditioned to believe that God heals us through doctors and medicine. And sometimes
God heals supernaturally. The body is a mechanical machine and it must be
treated as such. There apparently is no in-between.
Back in the 16th century,
when Rene Descartes was alive and active in his philosophical thinking, he
concluded that much of matter is simply mechanical. He supported a dualism that
mind and body were completely separate, and those parts did not interact with
each other, except at the pineal gland where there could be some intersection. Touch was the only true “sense”, according to
Descartes. http://www.philosophypages.com/hy/4h.htm
This philosophy was at complete odds
with Eastern ideas which teach our body and our mind is a cohesive unit. Each
part influenced the other and each was integral to the functioning whole.
Due to this 16th century
thought Western medicine until recently has view the mind-body connection as
non-existent. The body was the body; the mind was the mind and each was treated
as separately existing. If one had a physical disease, the state of our mind
had little to do with the disease itself, or the healing process. The idea that
a physical illness was the manifestation of an emotional (mind) problem was
near impossible to fathom.
This thinking is rapidly changing,
meaning that Eastern ideas of how our body heals was correct all along, and these
new ideas are making rapid inroads into Western medicine. The mind-body
connection exists, as our whole body works in unison, not as separate parts as
Descartes suggested.
It is new science, and most of the
disbelief of Christians can simply be addressed by explaining that EFT is all
physiology the way God created us. I use Scripture to address their concerns,
too. Too many Christians figure if something has Chinese medicine in it; it
follows that some Chinese religious belief must be mixed in there, too. This isn't
at all true.
Many universities are now doing amazing
amounts of neuro research, and I try to keep up on that as much as possible,
and use it in my new articles, blogs, and upcoming books, as well as
incorporate it into my EFT classes. Internet searches will bring up hundreds of
research articles around this subject. Most of it is fascinating reading.
You & I know people heal when they
are ready to heal. If they are satisfied to be where they are, afraid to think
outside the box, try something new, we can pretty much guarantee not much healing
is going to happen!

How Much Healing Guts Do You Have?
As the group moderator continues to lead them week after
week through EFT clearing, it is interesting to watch the varied reactions.
Some women open up quickly, easily, baring their souls to one another; others
are more reticent, holding back, waiting for the just the right time to let
loose of their own personal story.
All of that is good. People heal at a different pace, and
even if a woman isn’t saying a word, but continues to tap with her fellow group
members, there is a good chance God is healing her, too, in a more subtle way.
That way is called “Borrowed Benefits.”
Decades ago, EFT founder Gary Craig, realized something
“energetic” was happening underneath the surface of the group to whom he was
speaking when he had a client up on stage, tapping with her/him.
Finally, Mr. Craig decided to run a small experiment of
sorts. I won’t get this story’s details exactly right, and there are many
variations of it out on the internet, but he had the entire audience write down
on a piece of paper at the beginning of the conference all the issues that were
bothering them right then and there. Mr.
Craig then told the attendees to put the paper away for the duration of the
seminar.
On the last day of the conference he asked for another
volunteer to come up on stage for a tapping demonstration to be done by him.
Apparently no one raised their hand. At last, he asked the group to take out
that paper on which they all had written the list that bothered them and take a
look at it. It was right then that Mr. Craig realized the reason no one
volunteered. He immediately saw that most of the issues written on those
hundreds of slips of paper had been resolved while each attendee tapped along
with the client up on the stage. That amazing occurrence was dubbed “Borrowed
Benefits,” and we see it routinely in every single group or classroom where
tapping goes on.
There is a physiological reason why it happens, but I don’t
believe that was discovered until long after Mr. Craig figured out the concept.
God put in us something called, “Mirror Neurons.” These
neurons are a particular type of brain cell that fires when we see an action
performed. To a certain extent it is imitation. We sneeze; someone else in the
room sneezes. We grab our glass to drink; another person does the same. It
might even account for why a 2 year old wants his friend’s truck to play with
right now, or the concept of a mob getting out of control during a sporting
event. We learn by watching others, but more importantly we heal by doing the
same thing.
It appears mirror neurons give us the ability to empathize
with others and they give us the ability to interpret facial expression in
others – we intrinsically understand what a frown means, or was that
understanding learned from another, but interpreted by our mirror neurons? This
reaction seems to be automatic, not something we put any thought into.
Two locations in the brain where these neurons have been
observed are the premotor cortex and the inferior parietal cortex. There are theories that these mirror
neurons help with bonding between people, and that the mirroring intensifies
over time.
Let’s get back to the gals in the room talking, and hopefully
tapping, about their problems.
I often challenge
people around me to think about taking Emotional Freedom Techniques (EFT or
tapping) a step further.
Maybe this article will motivate you to consider doing this,
too.
All of us, me included, love to whine and complain about all
of the awful things other people have done to us over the years. So and so did
this and so and so did that to me, and “it ruined my life.” I hear it all the time.
As we tap, God neutralizes the emotional impact of whatever awful
things have happened in our lives, and forgiveness begins to set in, resulting
in peace within our soul. I want to toss out a challenge.
What happens if we turn the table and ask God to point out to
us where we went wrong – where we ourselves hurt someone else, inadvertently or
intentionally?
That suggestion often sends the roomful of women into a buzz
of conversation. “What? I was the victim. What are you talking about?” as they
look incredulously at each other.
“I’m serious,” I reply, “Who in this room has the guts to ask
God what they specifically did wrong to hurt someone in their life.”
This idea takes some intense thought and rumination. It is
self-incriminating. This is where the meat hits the bones of Christian
confession and repentance.
Can you ask God that question?
Frankly, it took me a very long time to do it. I cannot ask
you to do so without me first trying it, can I?
I didn’t like at all what I heard from God. I’m not going to
list all the sins I have committed in the past that hurt others here, but I
will tell you it was an illuminating conversation with God.
Should you truly want to heal from top to bottom and from
inside to the outside, try asking God that particular question.
My guess is He will require of you what He required of me. I
had stuff to repent of, and it is the best thing that ever happened to me short
of learning how to tap!
It cleared my soul and spirit. It repaired my relationship
with my Savior. To date, God has not required me to go to any of the people He
told me I hurt and ask their forgiveness. Sometimes God requires that, and if
He does of you, please go do it.
Often we know in our hearts our intentions toward someone
were wrong, but that person never picked up on it as you meant it. God often
doesn’t require us to ask forgiveness for those things because it would mean we
would probably hurt the person in the explaining what we did and what we meant
to do. We would cause more pain in the apologizing and asking for forgiveness. It’s
our own guilt He wants us to deal with.
So, back to my original question: How much healing guts do
you actually have? Are you willing to go that extra mile with God, and allow
Him to show you where you went relationally wrong? Instead of us always
complaining what others did to us, are we open enough to be told and to
understand what our behaviors and words mean to others?
Only you and God can figure this one out. I simply offer it
as a suggestion as an advanced technique you can use for further clearing with
EFT.
God bless your tapping!

EFT & Negativity
Did you know that God put 100 billion neurons in us and each neuron has
10,000 dendrites on it to connect to other neurons, so when we say we take out
neural pathways when we tap, and tapping takes out a lot of those pathways, wow!
it makes sense now?
Donald Hebb's law is (paraphrased) that neurons that fire together, wire
together. Conversely, the opposite is also true. Neurons that get taken out with
tapping, take out the connecting neurons around it, which take out more neurons
connected with those, and on and on showing how the generalizing effect
happens!
When we start wiring neurons with negative thoughts, no wonder those
thoughts take over our life. It is a like a cancer growing in our mind, doubling
the negativity every hour we think the thought!
Please take full responsibility for your emotional health. If necessary, please phone a physician for care.

Paula's Story about Her Dad's Death
EFT for Christians book has
been out for many months now, and exciting things have been happening.
Here is a case study outlined
in EFT for Christians on pages 163-170 with a follow-up comment Paula listed at
the bottom of the case study. This is a shortened version of the printed book
story.
If you are a Christian, or if
you know anyone interested in becoming a Christian EFT practitioner, please
give them my website - http://www.EFTforChristians.com/ .
My email and book ordering information can be found there.
Paula and Dad
As a member of a Christian
medical organization, I was asked to give a speech about exactly what our group
does. I agreed. The only business cards I had with me were my EFT for
Christians ones, so I tossed them, literally, on the tables for the ladies to
take if they so desired.
I did my presentation as
requested. As we finished with the follow-up questions, someone asked me, “What
is this?” pointing to my business card. I asked if it was permissible for me to
describe it. The group agreed for me to go ahead.
During the talk, an older
lady began to cry. I, of course, noticed her, and inquired what was wrong.
Paula looked me in the eye,
and asked, “You mean to tell me if we tapped, I can move some of these emotions
I have about seeing my Dad killed before my very eyes when I was seven years
old?” I grinned and told her, “Yes, I think I can help you. When do you want to
tap?” “Right now!” came her answer.
I was agreeable to tap right
then and there, as the rest of the group was ready to go home to supper. A few
asked if they could stay to “watch.” I gently told them I didn’t think that to
be a good idea. Paula and I needed to do this tapping alone.
I found us a quiet corner in
the building, and then I went looking for some tissues, and a pen and paper. I
almost always take notes. I use them to go back to test and retest our tapping
results. I believe I get a more thorough clearing because sometimes, I, too,
get into the client’s story and to remember later the possible six, or eight,
or ten different things we covered is difficult. Note-taking is a personal
choice. No client has ever asked me not to do so.
As with my usual methodology,
I opened with prayer and I asked Paula to begin tapping immediately. Some
coaches dislike this because they feel it brings the emotions down too much,
making it more difficult for the client to access what is going on in the
memory. I, personally, find it does the exact opposite. It gives notice to the
subconscious to wake up and help out here, it is time to tap and clear out
emotional memories.
With that earlier little
crying sentence Paula gave me, I didn’t anticipate this to be a dry, tearless
session – her father’s death. No way was this story going to be told without
many tears.
I inquired as to how old she
was when her father died. Paula answered, “I was seven and I saw it happened
and it has influenced my whole life since. There isn’t a day that goes by that
I don’t think about that accident. And, I know it impacts my relationship with
my husband, and my children. I hover over them for fear something bad will
happen to them. I can’t ever lose someone like that again, but I know I have to
leave things in God’s hands, and I can’t. I worry constantly.”
“Paula, tell me the story,
please, in your own words. When you hit a part in the story that is really
emotional, stop and we will tap that part until you are comfortable going on,”
I instructed her.
She began the story, “My dad
was the godliest man I knew. He read the Bible to me, took us all to church,
and treated us all so well. I pretty much just adored him. He decided one
weekend to help a neighbor man move to a new apartment. He took all of us kids
along in order to give Mother a break. We loved being with dad. Everything was
loaded in the truck and I asked dad if I could sit in his lap. He and my older
brother were sitting on the open tailgate of the truck. Dad told me no and put
me up against the truck cab in front.
Off we started with the
neighbor man driving. Suddenly, the truck hit a pothole. I heard the tailgate
slam up and down, and then I saw both my brother and dad slide off the flipping
tailgate. My brother rolled, but dad went straight down on his back, hitting
his head on the pavement.”
As you can imagine, the tears
began in earnest. I assisted her in tapping every single detail of those two
paragraphs, until she could say them without any emotion in her voice.
She continued, “Finally, the
man stopped the truck. Someone closed up the tailgate trapping me in the truck.
I hollered to get them to let me out. Another man picked me up and set me down
on the road. I saw dad. He was lying still with his head in a big puddle of
blood.”
The crying understandably
resumed at this point.
Once again, I helped her tap
down all the emotions around this part of the story. She calmed, blew her nose,
and said, “Let’s keep going.” What a brave woman!
A lady from across the street
came to get me while all the commotion of the ambulance was happening. I don’t
know who called my mother. The lady sat me down on her porch steps and gave me
some rootbeer soda and a cookie.
To break the tension a little
bit, I stopped her and said, “I bet you don’t like rootbeer soda to this day,
do you?” Paula looked at me and inquired, “How did you know that?” I smiled and
said, “Because rootbeer is associated with this horrible negative memory, I
knew you’d never drink it again.” Paula looked at me like she had never thought
of that before (and she probably hadn’t) and I asked her to continue with the
tale.
“The ambulance took dad away
and I never saw him alive again. I know he was alive in the street because I
could hear him moaning.” And, once again, the crying began, great big sobs,
with her shoulders shaking, as if she was experiencing the incident right now
in the present. Frankly, to her subconscious, she was because, until this
incident has EFT applied to it, her subconscious is playing this accident in
her mind and body as it is still present tense.
We repeated the tapping
process again, covering all the specific details of this particular part of the
story until she settled down and the crying stopped.
At that point, she did tell
me more about what happened to the family after her dad died, and how hard it
was on her older siblings and her mom to keep food on the table. Paula’s job
was to watch the younger kids while everyone else went to work.
We continued to tap as she
related the rest of the story details to me, but she never cried again. The “punch”
had been pulled out of the incident.
I have no idea how long we
tapped, but my best guess is about forty minutes. I asked her to one more time
to tell me the whole story again from a neutral place of having breakfast
before dad loaded them all in the truck to help the neighbor.
Paula did as I instructed
her. Even she was surprised at how little emotion she had about the event. She
stopped twice and commented about how different she now felt. I noticed that
her emphasis on particular adjectives had lessened. She changed a few words
that had a harsh meaning previously to something more subdued. “Terrible” was
changed to “bad”. “Huge puddle of blood” under her dad’s head was just a
“puddle of blood.” The biggest change was how she said the words, “Bang, bang,
bang,” complete with hand raising and lowering emphasis indicating what the
truck tailgate had done when the truck hit that fatal pothole. By the third of
fourth telling of the story, the “bang, bang” were just words said in an
emotionless manner. We EFT practitioners see this quite often. Words change or
soften once the emotion is pulled out of the traumatic event.
In the telling of the story,
Paula told me how mean this neighbor man had become after that, saying, “Why
couldn’t it have been him that was killed and not my dad. He began to drink a
lot after that accident.”
I asked her if she hated this
man. In typical Christian fashion, Paula said, “Oh, no, we aren’t allowed to
hate.” I asked again, “Do you hate this man? Tap and ask the Holy Spirit if you
do.”
She compiled, and she looked
at me with big wide eyes, saying, “You know, I do hate him. I never realized
that!”
Doing the repentance part of Christian
EFT, I asked if she would like to confess that sin of hatred right here, right
now, before God and complete the process. Paula readily agreed!
I lead her through a
confession of sins, in a simple manner, as God doesn’t require lofty words. He
just wants to hear us say that we are sorry from a sincere heart, and He will
indeed forgive us. He always does! He’s our heavenly Father.
I barely finished the prayer, and Paula replied, “I
never thought of this! No wonder that man was so mean and drank so much. He had
a reason to do so.” And I replied, “Yes, because he was responsible for your
father’s death!”
Never have I seen such a
beautiful grin as the one planted on Paula’s face at that moment. I knew in my
heart God had just done another one of his miraculous healings through the
power of his created EFT. My heart was bursting, knowing what I had just
experienced – freeing of a sister in Christ from a lifelong haunting event. EFT
most often is a permanent healing, if we did our work well.
A week later, I received a
written thank you from Paula. I quote it here:
“My burden has been lifted
since our session together.
I no longer feel like my
witnessing of my father’s accident is still happening over and over. I am set
free and know it happened, but I don’t relive it. As for my feelings toward the
neighbor man, hate is gone and so is the blame. I know all was in God’s
mysterious plan.
I live in the now and know
I’m part of God’s plan and He leads me.
I tap and unload all other
things that come up daily. We are so wonderfully made.
Thank you so much for helping
me to help myself.
God bless you and all you do
for others,
Paula”
Paula summed up in one small
note nearly everything we teach EFT to be. It pulls the emotion out of our
past, putting us in the here and now, living in the present, enjoying all that
God gives us. Forgiveness and empathy tends to follow the tapping, giving us
the ability to emulate our Savior when He went to the Cross on Calvary and
carried all our sins, there to forgive us all.
I am so blessed to be allowed
to do this process for my Christian family, and any other precious people that
God sends my way. Amen! Paula and I never tapped again, although she has told
me she does use EFT when anything emotional arises in her life.
“7/25/15 I must tell you of
this happening yesterday. Our four children were gathered at our home for a
family patio dinner. Son & wife in from MI & daughter & husband in
from lower FL. Our other two children are from here. In our later evening
conversation around the fire I had everyone's attention telling them how I was
freed from the heavy load I carried for 68 years. I no longer break down when I
mention the death of my father. They asked how so told them of my session with
you & explained the tapping. This also was the first time my husband had
knowledge of it & asked why. I said I felt you would think it hokum. I told
them you wrote my experience changing my story in her book which she gave me.
At that, my youngest daughter went inside to my bookshelf. She came outside
with it finding the Paula story. With everyone silent she read the complete
story to all. They were amazed! She then asked if she could borrow the book to
read, I said by all means. Not one of the 18 family members belittled it at
all!! I can't thank you enough.”
